Located at the picturesque Windsor Road, Egham, in the heart of the United Kingdom, this sprawling parkland is an enchanting oasis of tranquility and a point of interest like no other.
Steeped in rich history, Runnymede Pleasure Ground is the site where the Magna Carta-the document that signifies the birth of democracy- was signed in 1215. Today, this parkland has become a symbol of freedom and promises visitors an enthralling experience that reflects the values enshrined in that historic agreement.
Whether you're a local or a tourist, there is always something magical to do or see at the Runnymede Pleasure Ground. Walk amidst the tall trees and embrace the lush greenery, or take a leisurely boat ride down the River Thames, taking in the splendid views of Egham as you go. The kids will love playing in the park's playground while you relax and enjoy a picnic on one of the many spacious lawns.
For history and culture enthusiasts, a visit to the Magna Carta Memorial in the park is an absolute must. This memorial is a testament to the legacy of the document that marked a turning point in English history, and reflects the significance of human rights and accountability for all. Visitors can also walk down the path that leads to the John F. Kennedy Memorial or take a stroll to the Ankerwycke Yew, one of England's most ancient trees and a site of religious significance.
Overall, the Runnymede Pleasure Ground is a perfect destination for an afternoon out, a weekend trip, or a romantic getaway. With its historical significance, natural beauty, and recreational activities, it's no surprise why it's become a renowned tourist attraction in the United Kingdom. "Lovely park with a lot of open space, play area, cafe, ice-cream shop and toilets. It has a walking path along the river. Kids can go on their scooters or cycles too. There are quite a few benches if you want to stop and take in the view. Plenty of parking but it can be busy as it is popular. On a sunny day, it'll be a great place to have a picnic."
"Playground, free 30 minutes car parking, cafe with hot food and toilets, huge car parking, bouncing castle, go-kart for the little ones, splash pool in the summer, ice cream truck, Queen Elizabeth II statue, green area, astonishing riverside walk and boat ride available!!!! What else could you ask? There is also an amazing Italian restaurant 5 minutes walk which is 5 stars too"
"Beautiful lakeside views and great for walks and very dog friendly. When we visited there was a bouncy castle and children’s go carting on the field which is great if you have children. The cafe offers hot and cold food/drinks and ice creams. The prices are high for the quality and venue, you can get the same in a nice London cafe with better quality."
"Great little play park and clean toilet facilities and onsite cafe with food and drink and ice cream in all weathers, walks along the river Thames with Runnymede Meadow opposite and statue of HRH Queen Elizabeth II what more do you want. Events throughout the better weather and through the year and additional rides and entertainment provided too with pop up additional refreshments too. Great all year round with beautiful scenery. Just a lovely place to be with the family or as a couple or even by yourself."
