"I stopped by Jules & Gems over the weekend. I was waiting for my husband and saw a chalkboard sign outside that the store was having a moving sale, so I stopped by the shop. I had never been there previously. Another customer was already inside. I was holding my phone in case my husband called or texted but as soon as I stepped inside the store, she asked me to put my phone away. I thought that was a bit of an odd request but I complied and continued to browse the store. I wasn’t in the store for very long, no more than 10 minutes. I looked at a pair of silver hoop earrings and then some of her gold necklaces. When I was examining one of the necklaces, she asked why I was looking at the little tag on the chain (I was just curious what it said). She then asked what I was doing in the shop. I told I was just browsing, looking for earrings for myself and some necklaces for a couple of friends back home. She said that she thought I was the same Asian woman who had been in the store the previous week and had bought nearly everything in the shop. She was convinced I was a Chinese manufacturer who was examining her jewellery so I could copy her designs. "I think that's what's going on here," she said. I was shocked and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It wasn’t like I was taking photos or notes of the jewellery or doing something else unusual that might arouse suspicion. I was just browsing like any other customer would. What made it worse was the other customer was in the store during the entire exchange, and the shop is very small so there was no doubt the other customer could hear every word Julie said. But Julie clearly didn’t find it at all problematic to make the accusations against me in front of others. For the record, I was born and raised in the US and living in London for the last four years. I am not from China. I have worked as a journalist for my entire career. I have zero professional or family connections to the jewellery industry."

Julie is such a lovely warm person who makes you feel at home and takes the time to listen to your needs and has a wealth of ideas and suggestions so you dont leave without finding the appropriate gift. Further more she listens to you as her customer so if there is something you are looking for and she doesn't stock it she has been known to seek it out and update you with her new stock offerings :)"
