"Rooms are very tired and in need of upgrading. However, the bed was really comfortable and had a good night sleep. We chose the full English for breakfast. All was just lukewarm warm apart from the hash brown and black pudding, which was nice and hot. Left the food as I didn't enjoy it being nearly cold. The place could do with a deep clean as there was tomato sauce on the window ledge in the breakfast room that had been there some time, crayon scribbled on the table."
"This is the second time here in three years. Came here with friends for an early Christmas meal with entertainment. I love this hotel, it's not the poshest Hotel I've stayed in so don't expect 5 star facilities. What you can expect is a great atmosphere and friendly staff, and a great breakfast. I will definitely be going back as the entertainment programme for the year is very good and there's always next Christmas."
"Wonderful hotel, great location and food. Welcome started at reception by Sarah, a mine of local knowledge. Staff in restaurant headed by Zane, couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. Looking forward to seeing them again."
"We both had the roast beef which was delicious. The menu said the beef would be served pink with ‘lashings’ of gravy and no pigs in blankets. The beef wasn’t pink at all, there was very little gravy and we ordered 2 sides of pigs in blankets but the dinner came with them. So we didn’t need to order extra after already paying for them. The staff were great but the dinner was average."
"Food was beautiful, evening meal and breakfast were very good. Rooms very small and basic, not the cleanest, poorly maintained. Not worth what we paid to stay. The building itself has charm and original features, loved the water wheel and ovens."
