"Very disappointing food. Salt and pepper chicken, "chicken" "pieces were burnt" almost no flavouring. Not chicken pieces, seemed to be extremely think off-cuts? Maybe... overall dreadful. 1/5 Ordered veg - wow what turned up was shocking, some veg coated and dripping in some slime. Tasted and looked vile. 1/5 "King prawns" in ginger and spring onions. Looked vile, similar slime to which the veg were in. 1/5 I ordered sichuan chicken, what came was chicken in black bean sauce with a little bit of chilli in. Totally different dish. It was wrong item, but the best of the food which was delivered. 4/5 Curry sauce was nice. 5/5"
"Jack is a nice chap and he cooks nice takeaway. I usually order once a fortnight, and have never had a bad dish. Thanks Jack!"
"We've had 2 pad thai dishes with king prawns....and vegetable spring rolls. It has nothing to do with pad thai we've had in Thailand even on the street or shady places around there. The dish had too much chilli and couldn't distinguish other flavours that would be expected. No coriander and couldn't taste the egg. The onion was big white onion not spring onions. The vegetables we're well cooked which is not expected.... The size was respectable but it had nothing to do with pad thai.. strongly recommend trying something else. I didn't taste spring rolls but my misses said they taste like tescos.. We usually eat at thai restaurants around Leamington"
"Ordered via Just Eat. Dinner arrived in full, good temperature and quite earlier than advised- not an issue for me, so a good start. Starters were reasonable- standard prawn toast you find everywhere, unexceptional but a decent portion. Spare ribs were swimming in a runny bbq sauce type that I've not had before, so the taste was little different to what I'm used to- however it wasn't unpleasant, with a slightly better than average proportion of meat to bone. Wontons were a nice surprise, properly filled chunky crispy little dumplings, better than I've had outside of a proper restaurant in some time. I suppose you could argue the smaller number for the price may offset this a little, but I was pleased with them. When I'm trying a new Chinese/SE Asian takeaway, I always try the Beef with green pepper and black bean sauce, because it's ubiquitous and I find it a useful benchmark as to the general approach of the kitchen. Personally, I found it distinctly average, the right flavours but lacked the crisp punch I prefer elsewhere. That said, it went down well with the kids, so it may suit more conservative palates. I also tried the hot Sambal Prawn dish and was somewhat disappointed. I know spicy dishes tend to be dumbed down for Western tastes but I genuinely detected little heat to be warned of- I've had hotter monster munch. Furthermore whilst the underlying flavour was okay, it was too similar to what some other outlets usually just refer to as 'Spicy/Sour Prawns '- I just didn't get the feeling that I was truly experiencing a cultural or regional speciality. Overall not bad but not exceptional (except maybe the wontons- but as a minor side dish, they can only do so much...) A suitable source for those who like Chinese food in principle but find some flavours too strong, Jack's Kitchen provides solid enough fayre but probably won't be my first choice if I'm honest."
