"I have been working with Erin for two and a half years, a period which has included both EMDR and psychotherapy. The psychotherapy is ongoing and I am very pleased with the support I am receiving; it is a collaborative process that makes me feel like I have agency over my own treatment and the ability to manage my life with its ups and downs, but with additional support, insight and wisdom from Erin as my therapist. I was particularly pleased with the success of the EMDR, which helped me process events that had been 'stuck' for years, even decades, and helped me move forward from past traumas in a way I didn't think possible until now. It has been really life changing."
"Erin's approach to therapy has been exactly what I was looking for. She has been so supportive emotionally and has also provided me with the practical skills to cope independently. I really appreciate that she explained the theory and evidence behind the strategies we practiced - it made me feel more involved, which is so important in a client-therapist dynamic. She was always professional and kind. I would recommend her to anyone looking for psychological therapy."
"Erin is a kind, compassionate and attentive therapist who works hard to make the most of her time with clients. I have engaged with therapists in the past who are content with little or no direction or progress, which at times can be disheartening and demotivating. My experience of working with Erin is that she is not one of those therapists and is passionate about helping her clients move towards meaningful change. If you wish to fully engage in a meaningful therapeutic journey with a highly skilled and experienced therapist, then I would recommend Erin."
"I’ve received therapy sessions from Sense of Self and it has been truly life changing. I’ve had sessions for over a year and a half, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them!"
"When I met with Erin Logan for a therapy consultation, she seemed incredibly disingenuous. I’ve met with a lot of therapists over the years, a small number of which have shown disinterest in working with me during a consultation, but never in such a blatantly obvious and disrespectful way. After answering each of her questions in thorough detail, she would repeatedly ask me what exactly I needed help with, when I had explained the problems I deal with on a daily basis. I made it clear that I was seeking emdr and dbt therapy as that was what the professional that recommended her to me had suggested. When I discussed my previous difficulties with dbt, she somehow garnered the message that I was not willing to put in any effort while working with her. She said word for word, “usually people who come in to my office want to be here”. Why on earth would I take two trains out to central London during strikes to waste somebody else’s and my own time (and money)? You shouldn’t be working with vulnerable people in complex, difficult situations if you are going to make them feel like their lack of success in previous attempts at therapy are the result of them not trying hard enough. It’s very dehumanising to share such sensitive information with a stranger and have them make you feel as if it is your own fault you are struggling. I believe if a therapist feels a client’s situation is too complicated for them to handle, they should feel able to say that, rather than shifting blame on to the client. I understand miscommunications can happen in therapy, but Erin’s attitude felt very purposefully passive aggressive towards me for no apparent reason. If you are looking for a compassionate and empathetic therapist who genuinely wants to help, please avoid this woman’s practice."
