"We booked a table for four. We ordered drinks, then ordered food. We were there for about two hours and no one came to ask if would like more drinks. When the table was eventually cleared we were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu. We said yes, but it never arrived. We had to ask for it. The food was good, but the service could do with some improvement."
"What a fabulous stay and dinner we had with you last night. Loving the ample parking and grounds. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was gorgeous and really liked the outdoor space (and heater). Really impressed with the refillable products in the room and reclaimed furniture. We popped over to the bar and restaurant for tea and once again had a really warm welcome and great service. Bar prices were very reasonable. The meal was superb and really loved the meat & fish counter to select your dinner. Finishing off with liqueur coffees was ideal. Breakfast this morning was completely hassle free with a fabulous choice for the cold buffet and great selection for the cooked. Thank you so much for hosting us, we really enjoyed our mini break away and look forward to returning"
"Do not go here if you have a vegetarian in your party. Daughter ordered cauliflower and it tasted foul. Plus all meat is and fish were on display. If you like the idea of sitting opposite a deli counter in a supermarket then this is the place for you. An ambience of fish market. You order your food from the counter and not the table. There is very little veg on offer and you pay extra for what little they have. Do go here if you like meat and very little else. Not great if you have any disability as it is an old building and there are ramps that could be tricky for some chairs. For visually impaired - the menu is written on a chalk board and not a paper one on table and it is up high behind the deli counter, written in a fancy, unclear font. The Fish and meat were cooked to perfection. The meal was for a big birthday and had I known what it was like I would not have chosen this place. Maybe great if it was for me a casual night out"
"Arrived for a one night stay, the girls on reception were very polite. Our room was spotless, and amazing bed and an awesome bathroom. The gardens at the rear are well kept and relaxing too. There is a very good pub across the road and lots of historical places to see too . Well worth a visit."
"Dropped in today when visiting the Roman baths and museum. We hadn’t booked but the staff were able to fit us in for Sunday lunch in the bar area (restaurant was full). Lamb Sunday dinner was delicious and just the right amount of food. The veg still had a bit of bite to it and the meat was well cooked and tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back."
