Reviews of Tyntesfield National Trust Park and gardens
"Large historic furnished house with attached chapel, tours available and guides to answer questions in the rooms. Very knowledgeable. Car park is next to the old stables now the cafe and shop, multiple ways to walk from there through the grounds to the house, and on to the kitchen gardens/potting shed. (Additional cafe here with outdoor covered seating). Large grounds and woods to walk around. Transport available from the carpark to the house for those that can't manage the walk. Excellent day out"
"What a lovely National Trust property. We visited for the annual Wassail event. The house has plenty of rooms open to the public and the guides are fantastic. Plenty of parking and a good shop and fantastic food in the cafe. Good second hand bookshop. The gardens are large and enjoyable to walk around."
"A beautiful place to visit, well worth a day out. The house is magnificent, ornate without being overwhelmingly so, enough to make you 'wow' in every room. The chapel is beautiful, wonderful stained glass windows. The gardens are lovely, huge pumpkins in the walled kitchen garden and rows of vegetables and flowers to admire, even for a non-gardener like me. The estate is large, many splendid walks and estate property to admire. Definitely visit the cafe in the stable courtyard, it's quite a building and must have been splendid bustling with horses and coaches in years gone by. Whether you are an NT member or not, it is well worth a visit."
"Unfortunately we arrived too late in the day for it to be worthwhile going round the house. A shame because it was bound to have been interesting inside, if you go by the completely mental, thrown together gothic pastiche that is the exterior! However, the parkland and gardens were glorious. I particularly liked the kitchen garden and the beautiful, enclosed flower garden. We will definitely be back to see the house properly."
"(national trust member) We really enjoyed this house, plenty to see, The guides were very informative (just ask them). There is an electric mini bus that will take you to the house and back again if you want. The grounds are quite big so there is quite a bit of walking if you want to see everything. The gardens were kept really well. It's nice to see them growing all their own fruit and veg. The house was really impressive lots of architecture to see, kept clean and tidy, they even had someone playing the piano in the reception room, which was nice, we also liked how they done the flooring, they have copied the original flooring on to vinyl flooring, to protect the original, very impressive, and the wood work is amazing, definitely worth a visit if you're a national trust member."
