"My labradoodle was booked in today for a full groom which includes a wash, blow- dry and preferred hairstyle (a cut to match the breed). This also includes ear cleaning and nail clipping as standard. Labradoodle’s require attention on a regular basis despite COVID-19 as they are prone to matting due the thickness and texture of this breeds coat. On arrival to the appointment I spoke in detail to the girl behind the desk and again for a second time to the groomer who would be undertaking my dogs cut that there were certain problem areas (joints and neck) with some matting, however they weren’t tight to the skin and with some time I could work these out myself with a tangle teaser. However, due to the length of her hair these matts were returning quicker - hence booking this appointment. The groomer felt her coat and inspected her problem areas and agreed she could work with it. I was lead to believe that there were no real issues - she seemed confident that she could resolve it and reassured me. I left happy and confident in the groomers ability to do as she said. Within 10 minutes of me leaving I received a phone call from a member of staff telling me that “they just didn’t have enough time to give her a FULL GROOM today” despite being booked in for this service, confirmed via messenger the time allocated for my dog. - “doodles take approx 3 hours”. It is apparent to me that they did not even attempt to sort the problem areas due to the quick phone-call. An experienced, dedicated and professional groomer should make a fair attempt at de-matting. The sheer lack of attempt to do so was even more infuriating than the end result. I however gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked what they suggested was the next option - to which she replied to “cut a little shorter” I was happy with this as I was clear when I dropped my dog off that I did NOT want her shaved. If I was told by the groomer who inspected her that they would have had no option but to shave my dog I would have left and found a groomer who DID have the time and patience to groom my poodle. !! I will stress that if my dog required shaving to make her comfortable I would have done what was needed but she most definitely did not need to be shaved !! My partner collected our dog to settle the balance and expected to see her, happy, clean and tidy, sadly butchered is more appropriate a term for what he seen. He returned to the car in absolute shock and speechless at the mess that was made of our beautiful labradoodle. To put it bluntly she was given a buzz cut all over, which is uneven at best. Her ears were not cleaned and nails unclipped. To add insult to injury my partner was then charged £60 - the price for a full groom. I cannot understand why it took 3 1/2 hours to sheer my dog like a sheep. This only highlights that my dog was not being attended to for the duration of her appointment. She doesn’t look or smell like she’s been to a groomers and has not had aspects of the groom even completed (ears and nails). It is not about the money, as my partner paid no questions asked, however, I take issue with being charged for a FULL GROOM when I was told over the phone that you did not have time to complete a full groom and you have most certainly not done one. This salon have failed to give my dog the adequate care and attention any dog in their care deserves. I believe that the grooming of dogs in this facility is ruled by the need to make money above the welfare of the animals in their care. My dog was just a quick buck for them as the salon appeared to be massively over booked. As a dog owner who cares deeply for their pet I am deviated that I sent my dog here. A greedy and rush environment, sadly do not recommend. I have attached photos of my dogs coat before and after groom and a photo of the condition of her ears after the groom."
