Reviews of Callendar Park
"Lovely, even off-season in the fog. The arboretum and extensive forest walks are carefully maintained."
"Lovely Park. Hold Park Run on Saturday mornings at 9.30am too. Free car park. Great for the kids and dogs. Public toilets and a lovely massive area for walks/runs"
"There is over 170 acres of land in Callendar Park meaning there is plenty of space to get away and escape the crowds if you are heading here for a picnic. The park had 3 bouncy castles up over the weekend and whether these are a constant fixture or were solely in place for the jubilee weekend. You have to buy a ticket from the kiosk at £2 and this will get you approximately 10 minutes on the bouncy castle of your (childrens) choice. The park houses Callendar house which has a great museum and small cafe as well. I would book ahead for larger tables as it can get busy. The museum covers recent history and going all the way back to the Antonine roman Wall. The play park is roman themed and has some incredible carved statues inside it. The children loved playing in the sand pit and on the replica roman Fort. Next to the park is a small kiosk doing cooked food, tea and coffee and each cup comes with a cookie. Service was quick and efficient. Parking is free on site but again can get very busy on warmer, sunnier days. Hidden on site are the old boat swans!! I have attached a photo. See if you can find them."
"It's a great park in a good central location. It has free parking. One of those you could take a picnic and stay all day or just pop into the play park and head home again after 30mins. Loads to do and loads to explore. Today we just visited the play park with friends and came home."
"This is a fantastic park, almost right on my doorstep. Great for meeting friends, skating, cycling, playing football with the kids, picnics and more! We visit it all year round and see it in the different seasons. The events held at Callendar House are also fairly regular and the café is excellent with cheery staff. The addition of the outdoor coffee hut is also brilliant for a grab and run treat! Means I can drink my cappuccino while the kids play in the playpark! Worth a visit whether you are local or not!"
