Reviews of Chez Marcel
"We managed to get a seat inside one busy Friday bank holiday morning and the very patient lady looking after everyone inside alone *and* cooking and making drinks was extremely nice. The food itself was good - as you can see from the photograph, generously sized and colourful. The crêpe itself was a little singed and had turned a little too crisp. The coffee is not good. But overall, we really enjoyed the wide selection to choose from, the toppings and the waiting."
"I visited here on the basis of recommendation and boy, I wasn’t disappointed. While the prices are a bit eye-watering for a savory crepe – round £8.00 per pop – it is possible to indulge in a little treat like Nutella for a fiver. There are many crepe locations around Bristol, but I would say this is one of the best for a one-off treat for oneself and friends. The crepes are absolutely massive, yet carefully done, thin and melting on one’s palette. The actual setting feels warm, chic and inviting – with accommodating, friendly staff. Almost like a fragment of Paris has somehow lost itself in Bristol – which I am not complaining about! Overall, unless you’re made of money, it’s a good place to occasionally visit as a quality crepe location. To add to the experience, perhaps visualize the Eiffel tower outside instead of dustbins. 8/10 – would recommend (just wish the price was less dear)."
"They don't take bookings at Chez Marcel. We were fortunate to be seated not long after arrival on a Saturday lunchtime. Pros: buckwheat flour crêpes which is gluten-free, prompt service and reasonable prices. Cons: toppings are quite similar and it may seem as if there is a wide choice but it's just a lot of overlap in the savoury section. The sweet choices might be worth exploring though. It's one of those try once places. I wouldn't repeat visit."
"Nice small French place. The staff was very nice and the food was pretty delicious. The crepes are really tasty but I have tried nicer (or more elaborated, better to say) combination inside the crepes... The side salad was a sad spinach salad with nothing else, not even salt, a bit too basic to be honest."
"A friend recommended it and I can't be more thankful. Some of the best crepes I've ever had and definitely the best ones out of France. It's small but cute and nice and the staff is so lovely. I wish I would stay longer in Bristol to try more options but if that's happening again in the future I'll be sure to pay them another visit. 100% recommended and not expensive at all specially if you think about the quaility of the food and the fact that you don't have to wait at all for it."
