"San Carlo Bristol is a lavish Italian venue for diners who appreciate fine dining. Only a 5 minute walk from the Bristol Hippodrome, San Carlo Bristol is also the idea food spot for those looking to enjoy an evening of dinner and theatre. Starters and anti-pasties were genuine Italian pleasures. Fish dishes were fine not great. So Italian classics would be ideal to choose next time."
"Lovely restaurant, tucked away in central Bristol. We ate here for a birthday meal and enjoyed the experience. I would definitely return. Pros We both enjoyed our food. I had sea bass and my husband had the four seasons pizza. Wonderful atmosphere, from the background music to the mirrored walls and lighting. It was a really classy experience. Waiting staff were very professional and attentive. Prices seemed very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Could improve There were no olives at all on the menu in any form and we love olives so were disappointed. There was no veg at all accompanying the fish on the specials menu, which is fine if there had been a good selection of side dishes. I didn't feel there was much choice though: spinach or beans and that was it. Not many vegetarian options and even then they were not labelled as such for easy reference. On balance we enjoyed our meal and would return."
"Summary: Good service, somewhat classy decoration but food was just ok Service: Warm welcome. We had a reservation and were quickly shown to our tables. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. Got the bill fairly quickly when I asked for it, which was a nice change compared to other restaurants that take 20+ min. Overall very happy with the service. Food: The mushroom risotto was of good portion but it was too bland and it felt very watery instead of creamy so I would avoid it. We got a pizza to share and it was pretty good, I really liked the dough, it felt premium and not cheap like other restaurants. The ravioli was average and to be honest kinda expensive (around 18 pounds for 5 large ravioli). This was the large portion of ravioli which was meant to be a main dish, I assume the smaller one (11 pounds if I recall correctly) will probably have 2-3 raviolis only. That's just ridiculous. Taste wise they were just fine, a little hard on the bite but not really an issue, just personal preference. Room: Overall it's a nice place, definetely a good place for a date, nice furniture etc.. However, tables are somewhat tightly arranged and the noice level in the restaurant was above average. It wasn't even full that day, I'd imagine it gets unbearably loud on a full night. I noticed the same in the San Carlo restaurant in Manchester."
"Awesome food and service. Only slight issues was that the mussels in the seafood platter were slightly gritty not having been rinsed thoroughly. Otherwise an amazing experience."
"We were recommended this restaurant by a member of our family but sadly it didn't quite hit the mark. My main meal had plenty going for it such as it was cooked well, ingredients were nice and tasty, presented well but it was only warm. I informed the waiter who just looked at me, i repeated that my meal is not hot and again he just looked at me!!! Later he asked my wife what she would like for dessert and although it was a fairly loud atmosphere i clearly heard her reply but he didn't so i had to raise my voice!!! Overall i expected so much more than the lovely building and decor and would love to give it a higher mark but sadly not on this occasion plus we are due back in a couple of months for a family birthday but not sure i would return in a hurry as service certainly didn't live up to the meal prices."
