Murphy's Fish Bar New Road, Winscombe BS25 5NW

"What has happened to this chippy?? Went there tonight for a cheeseburger and chips with a couple of gherkins on the side... It'd be the first time I have seen a cheeseburger deep fried!! (burgers). Thought I would give it a try however, this when put together was seriously the most rank tasting oily mess of a burger I ever bit into, the burger tasted of deep fat fryer and greasy. So, thought I would give the chips a try... I was a little apprehensive after trying the burger, especially as the sharp faced boy that put the chips in the bag had happily whistled all over them, and found them to be undercooked, flaccid pale and soggy. As for the gherkins.... I've seen larger cornichons, or maybe that's what they were.... They tasted unlike any gherkin I have ever tried. All ended up in the bin and became a complete waste of money.... What was annoying was that I had to put my shoes back on, get in the car and go and find another meal... This used to be a great local chippy... I can't see how the food served to me tonight could get any worse and am unable to see how this chippy will be able to stay afloat as I am sure people will speak with their feet and find themselves a sandwich from the local garage Truly appalling.... Apologies for the poor review but am only writing about what was served me tonight."

"Great food freshly prepared. Best for fish and chips in my opinion in North Somerset. Car park to the side. My personal favourite is the chicken burger with salad and sauce. You can eat in but its not really set up for that."

"Keep trying for delivery on "delivery days" aka Thursday and Saturday but they never deliver? So instead I gotta get a delivery from congresbury... yeah ik I'm lazy but how about you just delete the option for delivery all together? Would rate lower on delivery but the food is decent, no tartar sauce either which is mental... 2 and 3/4 stars from me.."

"Finally had some decent fish and chips delivered tonight. Unfortunately Murphy's have been unable to deliver for a few weeks but it has been worth the wait! I've tried the other two local fish and chip takeaways and will never go back.. Only disappointment was the half measure of mushy peas, BUT... the fish is moist and batter crispy, chips are spot on and lots of them which makes up for it. Considering the weather the delivery lady still had a smile on her face and told me to enjoy, which I certainly did! Thanks all."

"Great pit stop on the way home good portion size and proper fresh fish and chips as they should be done. We will definitely be coming back when heading this way again."
