Reviews of Mother India's Cafe
"Really great food. It definitely looks like you'll want reservations if you don't want to wait a long time for a table. About 2 tapas per person works out well - a little more if you're hungry. For two of us, four tapas total and two drinks was 50 pounds. Fairly typical level of heat, excellent flavor on everything. Whisky selection is limited but good."
"Fantastic Meal! Recently visited Mother India’s cafe and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I turned up around 19:45 and the place was packed, as I was by myself I was able to fit in. The food was very good and full of flavour. The smaller tapas portions is a great idea and enables you to have a few of your favourites."
"Chose Mother India's Cafe for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed. We were served fairly quickly, all the dishes were amazing with various flavours and the wine was exquisite as well. Couldn't have asked for anything better."
"Disappointingly mediocre. After all the great reviews we were really excited to come try this place but all their dishes were very average. Especially the butter chicken, it was surprisingly bland for a curry and we are used to much more depth of flavour. The railway lamb was the best of the dishes. The most disappointing was the garlic nan which looked very blonde and tasted like it was raw :( Prices are very affordable though. And there can be a bit of a wait for a table. We arrived at 7.15pm on a Friday night after a show during Fringe and waited roughly 35minutes for a table or two."
"In a word, amazing. I visited this place for lunch and was delighted to experience the amazing food and the reasonable price tag it comes at. Just a word of caution, if you don't like hot and spicy you have to tell them to mellow down the hot quotient otherwise the default is very spicy! For an Indian spice lover this place is as good as it can get in Scotland. The place is great to have a meal with family. The Naans are amazing both in size and in taste. Overall a must visit place for a Desi food lover in Old Town Edinburgh."
