"Enjoyed our stay here and it was a good base for hiking in the area. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was decent especially enjoyed the cooked breakfast. You can hear the hum of the M4 but not a big deal for us, overall was an excellent value break."
"We had a wonderful time here. The staff were friendly, the food was gorgeous. Our room was spacious and we were in the oldest part so we enjoyed the historic element of the venue. Some of the rooms /decor is becoming a little tired but nothing major, rooms were clean so this wasn't too much of a problem. Not much to do in the immediate village but we had a walk into a conservation area which got the steps in for the day!"
"Had the good fortune to stay here last night. The service and the food were exceptional. All the staff we interacted with were beyond helpful... Special mention for Kim, who was one of our servers, who I feel we harassed with several questions regarding the menu and drinks. Would stay here again in a heartbeat."
"This is a lovely hotel in a very convenient location, just off of the M4. We had our two dogs with us, and they were very well catered for with beds, drinking bowls etc provide in our very spacious, well-appointed and comfortable room, which also gave us direct access into the beautiful gardens which have a lovely walk in the separate walled garden at the rear where the dogs can run free (Good recall a must!!!), dog waste bin also provided. The drinks were rather expensive but that I fear is a sign of the times! We stayed for two nights and ate both evenings in the hotel. Both meals were excellent even if the wait was a bit long on evening two (but allowances have to be made for a lack of staff that many in the hospitality service are suffering!). Two small ‘complaints’. Firstly, as dog owners we had to eat in the bar (not a problem) but several guests arriving entered through the side door into the bar and it let a strong wind rush through the room. I would suggest moving the dining table(s) to where the comfy chairs are. Secondly, on arrival we asked about having lunch as we were a bit early to book in. The receptionist went to check if that was possible, and we then had to listen to the chef say no way was he doing that, he was on a split shift etc. I make this comment as constructive feedback, with the point being that we the customer did not need to hear him moaning, that should have been done out of ear shot, especially as we had only just arrived! With that said, conversely it is the staff that make this hotel. In general, they were all polite, helpful and always ready to help. My wife asked a lady from the room cleaning staff for a couple of bits and they were provided promptly and without issue, for which we were very grateful. Special mention goes to Jorge, Kim and Ceri who took time to chat, were bright and apparently happy in their work and very importantly made our dogs feel welcome too. You guys make the stay for us and we will see you again I am sure, thank you. No hesitation in giving a 5 star review and recommended the hotel to others."
"We were there for a family wedding. The grounds were amazing. There were several garden areas and patios. All the children were able to just run about and play. It is also a dog friendly hotel. They have three rooms that are classed as dog friendly. These rooms are supplied with a dog bed and a water bowl. They each, also have a back door that opens onto one of the gardens. However, there is no fencing around that section, therefore, the dogs needed to be kept on a lead. As the grounds were all open to each other via pathways. Sadly, this was where the positive ended! Hence the two stars. I personally was reacting to the 35° heat and was getting palpitations. There was no AC in any part of the hotel and by 2am, I was contemplating getting a taxi home, no matter the cost. In the morning, I discovered that they have several fans, but because they didn't have enough for all the rooms, they didn't offer any out! They had seen me struggling during the day, with everyone constantly getting me glasses of cold water. The food was terrible. With the soup course, they handed out white and brown bread rolls, though no-one was asked which they prefer, it was just pot luck as to which one you were given. The roast potatoes with the main course, were like stones! Nobody at our table ate theirs, we later found out that most people hadn't. For desert we had some tart, only the base on that was rock hard and also left by many. The rooms were spacious and personally I loved the comfort of my bed, though others didn't. My grandson's bed was broken! When my daughter went to complain, she was told that there was nothing they could do and that she needed to complain in the morning! Well that didn't help the child, that ended up sleeping on the floor! I personally was disappointed, that there weren't any charging points at all. Though my own fault, as I'd forgotten to pack my charging plug. I felt that there should have been something the hotel could cater for. Even if just the loan of a plug."
