Reviews of Liverpool Playhouse Theatre
"We took my mother in law to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on Saturday night. Staff were very helpful and friendly-spotting that lift access would be needed, we were ushered to the lift for our seats upstairs. We had a fairly good view of the stage, but could not see all of the play to the far right of the stage. It is an old theatre and as such the seats are not very roomy and you do not have much leg room, so if you have coats/bags with you, you will probably have them on your lap. I was relieved to have the intermission to get up and stretch my legs and get some air, as the theatre was extremely hot. I purchased a can of coke and three pots of ice cream and it came to £16- to give you an idea of prices. The play overall was good but parts of it could have been chopped out to keep it flowing more smoothly. Additionally it was hard to hear sometimes all of the dialogue, so I am not sure whether the cast were mic'ed up. My mother in law has a hearing aid and she was struggling a little. Theatre was easy to get to-we parked in the nearby Q park which we booked online beforehand."
"Lovely little theatre,we visited the theatre 3 times in two weeks! All seats had a great view."
"Great venue. We had accessible seats in the Gallery. Unfortunately as they were accessible they were in the corner and the view wasn't great. Also got told to put our phones away before the show, we were told no phones, not even selfies before the show which was bizarre. The staff were very friendly and the booking of accessible seats were easy enough"
"Great venue to see Russell Brand event a bit ruined by drunken scousers who seemed to think they were funnier than the comedian. I can say that as I am a Scouser."
"On a short visit to Liverpool and chose One Man, Two Guv'nors to see to get a feel for the theatre scene. It's a ridiculous play, full of slapstick, gender confusion, singing, audience participation - and it was terrific. A laughter inducing, happy show. And the theatre, even if showing its age and quietened by covid-effects, is lovely. Whole recommend it but it closes soon so be quick."
