"Brockwell Lido is on the corner of Brockwell Park just off Dulwich Road; the lido has been a much-loved local landmark at the heart of the Brixton community since 1937. I enjoy visiting new places to swim; I had wanted to visit Brockwell Lido for some time; I like trying to combine a trip somewhere with a swim; I was working in London, so I took the opportunity to visit. I travelled from my home in Hampshire on the train; I then took a taxi directly to the lido; I don't recommend doing this; getting a cab back into London after my swim was expensive and complicated. As a disabled person, I don't enjoy using the underground; it makes me anxious. Not all underground stations are accessible either; I don't know London well, which doesn't help either. The Victoria Line is the last Tube to Brockwell Lido in Herne Hill; it's worth checking. I may need to be corrected. There is limited parking outside the lido, with some disabled parking bays. I visited in the winter on a bright but cold day. The lido is not heated; you can wear a wetsuit in the winter months if you wish. Before my swim, I found a place to get changed on the floor. There is a changing room; however, as an amputee, getting myself sorted closer to the pool is much easier. There is a hoist to get disabled users in and out of the water; it's worth asking beforehand if it's available. The water was cold during my swim, but I found the water to be clean, and the visibility was perfect. Although I didn't use it, there is a cafe in the lido called The Four Hundred Rabbits; I couldn't find their details on the pool website. It looks well worth checking out. Brixton is incredibly lucky to have Brockwell Lido; I wish we had one closer to where I live. It's a fantastic place to visit."
"Great lido that Fusion Leisure are running into the ground. The pool is beautiful and huge, staff are really friendly. Pool is always closed last minute because of various technical/staffing issues. Facilities always broken with seemingly little motivation to fix them, outside showers have been broken for about 2 months now? Always dirty because fusion don't seem to hire cleaners and expect reception or lifeguards to clean on what is just about living wage (which they were basically forced into paying)"
"Im so glad and lucky to a nice lido so close to me to do my 30 day swim challenge through the winter. The gym is a nice and spacious aswel. My only criticism is i wish the pool side changing room were as nice as the gym side. Thanks all :)"
"Love this place! I have been going here all my life and I have made so many fond memories here. The classes are fantastic and the gym has a variety of machines for all abilities. Cant forget the pool either... if you're brave enough to brace the cold its a fantastic experience."
"Regular attendee, Lido is okay.. The gym facilities have seen better days. Combination of vandalism, plus the gym not receiving regular upkeep.. I don't know if it's a Fusion lifestyle issue, or general management. For example, the lockers in the men's are degraded badly and are barely usable. I went to have a shower the other day, and there was still an old plaster in there from the last time I used it. Peoples lack of cleanliness is bothersome.. I know its not easy with upkeep, but it's one of these places that would be sorely missed if not in the community.. Wonder if it would fare better in the hands of better gyms.."
