"Really decent pub. We arrived for a walk around the reservoirs and parked up on the main road, and finished at the pub for a quick bite. We had some cheesy chips, a couple of drinks, and a sticky toffee pudding cake, which was delicious! The staff were super friendly and chatty."
"Really great selection of beers and the food is great, had a hot beef sandwich with chips. Large portion, well presented and friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. More than Happy. Barry"
"Basic pub as we used to know in the past. Caters very well for walkers. Small menu but excellent quality. I enjoyed the chunky steak chilli with rice which was certainly the best I've had. Top notch."
"Well what can I say, Absolutely disgusted in the way I got spoken to today. Presumably from the manageress . Of all the 1000's of places I have visited this experience has got to be the worse I have ever experienced. After a close family loss my partner invited me for some late lunch here to take my mind off things, The atmosphere was warm and friendly with the bar staff and I ordered some lunch of cheese pie chips and coleslaw, my partner ordered the chilli chips and rice. As I started eating the meal I said to my partner the pie is nice and tried the coleslaw which was presented nicely in a separate pot on the plate. On the second fork I had there was a long hair hanging from the folk. Im a kitchen manager and mental health support worker so I understand mistakes can happen and I have empathy and patience, my partner lifted it up to the light and it was a long brown hair. The barmaid asked if everything was okay and I said I found a hair in my coleslaw but it was fine as it was separate from the main dish. She offered to swap it and I said it was okay I don't want to make a fuss. And mistakes happen in a kitchen, She took the hair and went into the back. Within seconds this lady came charging over to me with the hair in her hand putting it up towards the side of my head and started saying this is your hair my staff do not have brown hair. I explained it was fine and that it was not mine as mine was bright red, This lady was very unprofessional and made me extremely upset and embarrassed as people in the place was looking over as she raised her voice saying I have never had a complaint, I explained I hadn't complained the bar maid had simply asked me if everything was okay after seeing me pull the hair off my fork of coleslaw and I had said there was a hair in my coleslaw, I have never in my life experienced this kind of treatment over someone else's mistake and not accepting responsibility. I asked her to check the camera so she could see me pull it from the middle of the coleslaw she made me feel that bad raising her voice and stomping off behind the bar, she was having none of it. I'm so glad I was not supporting a client as this would have been a horrendous situation to deal with. The manageress is disgraceful and needs training in customer relations. Disgusted and shocked. My first ever negative review and hopefully my last. Would give 0 stars if I could. The most unprofessional service I have ever received."
"Decent food, decent prices and in a lovely setting. Last orders for food is 5.45 which seems really early. Extremely dog friendly which is always nice to see! If you're in the area then definitely pop in, you won't be disappointed."
