"My wife was there for check something to the car before the mot. They asked £95 to do the test. After they told she must repaire the brakes and they want charge £450. My wife asked to another mechanic and for the test he charge £30 and after the test he told " your car doesn't need the new brakes but only less then one inch of oil".On the end he doesn't want nothing after my wife told about the Dollis hill garage. Never again to them. Very bad service."
"Called up the day before and they fit me in for my MOT at short notice. They charged £50 which is a little more than I'd like to pay but sometimes going for the cheapest option doesn't pay off. Dropped off the car and they called me back in just over an hour when it was ready. Overall very happy with my visit."
"Didn’t respond to my enquiry. Review is only based on communication, I didn’t actually have my car visit the garage. Website is fairly basic and rudiment. I tried to call, email and message (via website)."
"Arrived at this garage in Dollis Hill to MOT my sisters car and to get a service done. The man at the reception desk was not bothered at all. Despite this he managed to get the will to book me in and I left the car with him. I later get a call saying the MOT failed which I had expected as a few things needed to be done. One of the points of fail was the front offside tyre was getting bald. He offered me £98 for the tyre change and £15 per light bulb (which I already had and just needed it fitted). I declined as I could get 2 brand new tyres fitted for £50 each which I did. He then attempted to pressure me into the service I wanted and I told him I would only do the service once I have got the car passed through the MOT. Then he called me multiple times saying he needed space in his garage and I was to come immediately to collect the car. Fast forward a few days and I had got everything done to pass the MOT but noticed a mistake on the fail sheet. I told him I was unable to install the front headlight bulb but everything else was done. (Only needed rear break pads but I got the front changed as well. Only needed one front tyre but I done both). When I arrived for the re-test I said just the bulb needs to be clipped in I can pay the £15 he said sorry we don’t have time for to do that now. I didn’t let it get to me and I opened the bonnet and after 20 mines I managed to get the bulb in. I went to inform him I was ready for the MOT and all I see is 4 staff watching a kettle boil….. Thats why they don’t have time to fit my bulb makes sense. Long story short I was booked in for the re-test at 3pm it’s not 16:30 and I’m still waiting people who have come after me have come and gone. Still I have been very polite with everyone and not showed an ounce of anger or frustration. My more local garage had unfortunately caught fire so it was my first and most definitely last time at this fine establishment."
"Don't normally write reviews but this garage seems to get very harsh ratings compared to my experience with them and they seem to be from problematic customers rather than genuine experiences, so would like to provide a bit of balance. I had an engine light displaying a turbo issue on my VW last June, I'd just bought the car so was very worried I'd been ripped off by the private seller. Dollis Hill Garage managed to diagnose, get the part required and fix it within the day, as well as giving the engine a steam clean and washing the car for a very reasonable price. They called me throughout the day to keep me updated, and I could tell by the tone of voice they were enjoying fixing the car and doing a really good job at it. Very refreshing to hear. The car then recently developed a very concerning grinding noise (high mileage so feared the worst- transmission, gearbox, etc) and was overdue a service. I brought it in yesterday and they were again able to diagnose and fix the problem (turns out an engine mount bolt had sheared and the engine was vibrating against the underside of the engine bay!) as well as completing a major service within the day; again for a very reasonable price. They kept me updated and cleaned the car as usual which is a really nice touch. You can just tell they know what they're doing and take pride in their work, and are a very reassuring and reliable garage to leave your car at. I also got the MOT done here and flew through. Costs more than the likes of Kwik fit and Halfords but they won't fail it on suspension boots no longer preventing ingress of dust or other dodgy reasons!"
