Reviews of The Stag
"I booked a room for a week. Had a TV and a kettle that was good but the room was very small needed decorating and a new carpet. I was very disappointed plus they didn't clean it or make the bed"
"If I was homeless in -20 degree weather, I'd still rather sleep on the street than in this room again. The smell of mould from the bathroom and urine from the mattress is overbearing. Cannot wrap my head around how any establishment, pub or not, considers this to be acceptable. Filthy filthy owners."
"We were on the top floor, 2 single beds. room 21 The room was definitely not has described The window wouldn't shut, so not just the noise from outside with the buses in and out of the Terminal. Also, the cold air was coming in right over the bed. The beds were soiled and old disgusting mattresses. The shower and shower curtain was mouldy. If it wasn't for the fact that we arrived late, I would have complained straight away. Just a man behind the bar. My son and i, who is disabled got no sleep. The pictures on their website look great, but they must be years old.. Wouldn't recommend it at all Disgusting"
"What to say about The Stag Guesthouse; well we should start at the beginning, if you are a fan of calisthenics and cardio work outs, good news, The Stag Guesthouse is for you. The entrance to the guest rooms is up a flight of cast iron stairs, then an origami move past a spring loaded door and into a narrow corridor. This is followed by another set of steps, and, of course, another three step incline and this brings me to where our room was. Thankfully, we had the luck to be at the top of the first stairway. Now onto the room. Please, unless you have great night vision, bring a flashlight. Upon opening the door and taking a cursory glance at the room I immediately realised that there might be a slight issue in fitting our suitcases and ourselves into the same room as the bed and meagre furniture. In other observations about the room, one light bulb, well two if you count the one in the bathroom, a quilt we thought was a sheet because it was so transparent and according to our host, there were no more blankets in the entire hotel. Onto the towels, of which there was one, until I closed the door to the bathroom and found a damp towel on the back of the door. This was actually pleasing, because I didn’t think fabric that thin could absorb moisture. I digress, I cannot adequately describe how tiny the room is. The only way to open any case is to put it on the bed. However, again, unpacking is not really the correct phrase. Taking the clothes out you needed and then repacking because there is no room at all to leave a case open. In fact, when we finally got to go to bed, I had to put the suitcases by the door to allow us to get out of the bed. The bathroom, just he highlights I think; truly amazing engineering on the sink tap, contortionists will love the shower, and unfortunately if you are under five feet eight inches the mirror will be of no use to you. However, you can stand on the bed and use the mirror over that. Providing the pub is open when leaving, you have two choices: the entrance stairs, as previously described, or the incredibly narrow and steep pub access stairs. Both are equally excruciating if you are carrying anything more than a small canine. However choosing the second option works well so long as there is a customer in the bar to help you avoid a serious gravitational incident. This is my experience of this guesthouse, stay if you wish, but don’t say I didn’t warn you."
"My mother booked two nights at the Stag visiting from abroad. I phoned them to check she was booked for two nights and was told yes this is correct on the phone. When my mum turned up at the stag she told them she was staying 2 nights and nothing else was said. The next day they told her to get out as only one night had been booked. They were rude to my mum when she tried to explain the situation and threatened to call the police when she did not remove her bags quick enough from the room. The room which I might add had loads of issues with lack of towels, lightbulbs not working and the world's thinnest sheet on the bed with staff refusing to provide a blanket. Don't stay here people. It's run by incompetent, rude unhelpful people and should be shut down."
