"Brilliant care within the maternity unit. Travelled down from Birmingham for a show and ended up at the maternity triage and was taken care of fantastically and even received a phone call the next day to check is everything was alright. Can’t fault the care I received even if it was only for a few hours."
"My planned c-section was booked in July. We had the pre operation meeting in Lance Burn Centre, got the meds needed to be taken, was told which Ward and what time to come in the morning. We came in the right day and time, which was yesterday, and we were told that we are not on their list. The midwife said that she is going to talk to someone and will come back to us, that was at 8.15 am. Till 11.30 nobody came to say anything at all, only waiting and keep asking at the reception what’s going on?! By the way Jodi there was amazing was keep going around to look for the Ward manager to come and talk to us. At the end Lisa came and told to us that I’m on Cat 3 list, so they will do the operation inbetween the emergencies if there is time. We were waiting till 15.15 and she came to us again to tell that my c- section has been cancelled. I can come back tomorrow or Monday. I choose to come today, full with hopes….. well I’m here again, waiting since 8 am again, and now waiting for someone up higher to talk to, it’s been said that she will come to talk to me….. It is absolutely ridiculous that things like that can happen!!! How was it even possible that yesterday I came in and I wasn’t on the list?! How can you expect someone over 39 weeks pregnant to sit in a waiting room this long time both days, without eating or drinking anything???? Where is the Safeguarding in it???"
"Had a c-section at St Mary’s in December and had a great experience in the theatre and afterwards. The staff were amazing, despite being very stretched. Me and my baby were well looked after and we received a lot of support. Thank you to all staff, especially midwife Pooja :)"
"I could not rate the staff and experience of St Mary’s highly enough. The most dedicated, hardworking and passionate midwives that work tirelessly around the clock. We arrived at a very busy triage late on a Saturday evening in the early stages of labour and with reduced movements, we were seen to quickly and assessed by a very experienced midwife that immediately put us at ease. From here we were then transferred to our impeccable delivery suite that was spacious, clean and welcoming. The two midwives could not have done any more for us at this time. Dimmed the lights, put our choice of music on, provided coffee and made sure we were both supported and cared for. They never left our side. Throughout our birth we were informed, consulted and listened to with the upmost respect and professional care. I must admit, I read reviews before our birth and was quite scared about our choice of hospital and considered changing it however I can honestly say, hand on my heart, that it was the best decision we could have made. Our gorgeous girl is now two weeks old and we have just come back from a visit to the hospital to thank the most dedicated staff. Thank you to all, especially Polly, Ayesha, Naomi and Rose."
"Wouldn't recommend delivering your baby here. They mix up appointments and delay routine scans, baby was considered healthy at 14 weeks but at the 20 week scan, they found an abnormality with the hand. We were recommended to the fetal medicine unit TEN DAYS after that shocking news. They just fob you off after delivering such bad news. The waiting times are awful too. The staff are friendly however other than a few at reception who incompetent at booking appointments and gives you a blank stare like they don't know what you're talking about, they send you back and forth to different units as if we're expected to solve their problems. I'm not even going to mention the blood tests, what an awful experience."
