Reviews of The Perky Peacock
"Unique cafe, keep in mind they don’t have a toilet. Plenty of seats everywhere inside the tower also along the river, can be a great spot for a short break. Average cafe food. With the ambiance I’d love to give 5 stars, but within 2 hours being there I was told that I couldn’t sit there for long if they have more customers coming in, while I saw they do have empty tables as that time. It was a bit off putting. Not ideal for people who want to take time and relax, or those who’re waiting for their train. - update - I want to add that the staffs were fine, I only felt unwelcome when I was asked twice if I have ordered food/ if I want more. I wasn’t informed that I could sit upstairs instead, or that they need to prepare a party later, etc. simply that I have to leave very soon. I wasn’t the only person in the room at that time, so you can imagine how uncomfortable it felt when I’m also a customer."
"This place had a reputation for great cake so i wanted to see if it were the case. I tried the brownie crunch cake, it was rich without being too sweet and had a nice blend of textures with gooey & crunchier bits. The coffee was decent too. Customer service was friendly and it’s a cute little venue to sit and read in as the weather yesterday was rather precipitous!"
"Super quaint cafe built into an old castle. Amazing views, fun history, and a lovely atmosphere. My cappuccino was top notch as well as my (not pictured) BLT. I would have snapped a photo but it was so delicious I couldn't help but dig in!"
"Dropped in here for a bite to eat and a cuppa while walking along the riverside. A few tables with views of the river, this was a pretty relaxing place to spend an hour watching the boats and people go by. Surprised that its opening time was only to 4pm on a lovely sunny, busy day. Beer was reasonably priced and the tables were being cleared and cleaned regularly. Only a few minutes walk from the railway station and city centre. Worth stopping at."
"Super cute cafe in the dungeon of this beautiful tower by the river. The day that we went it was snowing quite randomly and we had the entire place to ourselves. It's really cute and cozy decor. Service is really friendly. The one thing I found was that portions were really small. We ordered soup and the bowls were only half filled. Though I may have only felt this way because I thought the soup was absolutely delicious and I was freezing and it was perfect on that cold day! We also got tea and hot chocolate which absolutely hit the spot. I highly recommend this adorable little cafe overlooking the water."
