The West Village

"Over priced (I found the exact dress I purchased for £70 less at a German online store - under £135 so no duties required and 9euro postage with UPS, free returns). Secondly this store does not operate to the highest level of customer service as they are not transparent regarding a returns/refund policy. A store is not obliged to refund due to a change of heart (with this I do not have an issue) but the terms of the contract upon which someone purchases should be clear (why not? - a notice on a nice plaque at the till?), especially as most retailers offer refunds as the norm (coming from a shopaholic) and West Village is expensive. I had second thoughts on the fit of my dress the next day, but the haughty shop manager maintained that during the trying on stage, she had mentioned I could exchange for another item if necessary, however, as I did not hear this it could not have been more than an inadequate, casual and conversational aside (apparently the girl at the till in the front part of the store supported the manager on this) rather than a formal clarification before the final sale which simply does not suffice. Oh, they did manage to write their policy on the final receipt. Guess what? - too late. I would not take my business to this retailer again and have told my daughter and her wide circle of friends details of my experience. Rude, intransigent, manager a poor communicator and not very kind (she gave me an email address to complain to, saying she was 'trying to be nice to me' ). Thanks, I am old enough to be her granny. There was nothing else I would have taken in exchange, especially as the store is beginning to look gaudy and tacky. Go elsewhere."
