Reviews of The Lord Nelson
"What a great little pub! My 2 friends and I went for dinner at Amaani and went to the Lord Nelson for an hour afterwards. There was 3-4 gentlemen playing guitars and singing beside the bar... Irish songs, bit of other stuff... It felt like we were in Ireland for the night. Loved it. The lady behind the bar was nice and friendly... And it was a cheap couple of rounds too. Thank you! We'll be back."
"Was there last night and although it is very difficult with the regulations of people having to sit at tables and not stand or dance I witnessed a bouncer manhandling a woman that had obviously had too much to drink in a very unprofessional way. The lady was just drunk not and having a little dance near her table. The bouncer literally grabbed her and dragged her to the door where he then pushed her quite forcefully outside. There was NO need at all the handle her in this way. And to be honest if that lady had fallen with being pushed outside you would have been being sued for bodily harm. I was with a group of ladies that witnessed this and thought it was absolutely shocking. The bouncer seemed after that very proud of himself and went behind the bar to tell the bar staff. He needs some serious training before he hurst someone. I also wonder if he would of done the same if it was a man."
"This pub needs a lot of TLC both inside and outside. It is very drab and unappealing from the outside and no better in. The tenants have had over 18 months to smarten the place up but have done the minimal. I would say it’s a mans pub which is a shame , and to go to a nice couples pub you have to travel by taxi if you would both like a drink. Also Nook Lane where the pub is situated is a litter dumping ground. I don’t want to be unkind but as a resident of the area I do not know one person that frequents this place."
"Awesome pub always has the football on and also has beer.....unlike some pubs"
"I have been drinking here for over 20 yrs. Present staff are great and changes to layout have worked well. A very friendly pubs even that they are reds. Beer is great and a good range of choice. Overall a good night out that won't break the bank"
