Reviews of Thai Square St Albans
"I enjoyed my meal at Thai Square and would give it a 10/10 as far as the tastiness of the food. I had a mixed starter which I shared with a friend and the Drunken Noodles as my main. I asked for the Drunken Noodles to be made extra spicy and it was perfect. My only complaint was that I felt the portion was a tad small. I enjoyed my Drunken Noodles so much that I ordered some to take home and it didn’t fill the entire container. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food. The service was ok and the general ambience of the restaurant was nice."
"Shocking service & poor hygiene standards. The place was cold (it is an old building) but we were also greeted with a cold welcome! The service was so poor, that we had to ask so many times for serving spoons/ cutlery/ napkins etc and the staff just didn't seem to care and looked like they were moving aimlessly from one table to another. The unforgivable for me was that there was no running water in the men's toilets - we also saw a chef use the toilet and not be able to wash his hands. I complained to a member of staff who seemed not to care that the water was not working in the men's toilets - in the end my wife complained to the manager who to be fair did explain that the chef would wash his hands again upon entering the kitchen (one would hope!) it did put me off my food; the food in general was not bad - tasted a bit re-heated and i certainly wouldn't call it value for money. The manager seemed to understand and thank goodness we didn't have to pay the (optional?) service charge. It was supposed to be a nice family meal out; I certainly wouldn't recommend nor would I return. I will spend my hard earned money at establishments that are welcoming and genuinely feel like they want our business. Avoid."
"Nice environment but with poor service and only one waiter during lunch time. Not busy at that moment as only two tables of customers. When this waiter saw us with a toddler, he didn’t ask us whether we need a baby chair. His attitude is lazy and frivolous. The food was a disaster. Not authentic Thai and they were just like reheat from microwave. Don’t go!"
"Tasty food and a nice atmosphere. Cool old, atmospheric interior. Instead of lemonade, we got Sprite so this is one significant mistake. The duck is very good, but pad thai is just ok - I've had better."
"Thai restaurant, part of a small chain of Thai restaurants in London and Windsor. Situated in St Alban's town centre in a period building. Ambience is amazing. Service was good, but food average and rather oily. A couple of mistakes with our order ( we had asked for no ice in our drinks and less spicy for one of the dishes we ordered, but neither was done). We ordered chicken pad Thai green vegetable curry, jasmine rice, thai square noodles, tofu ginger stir fry along with papaya salad. Parking is difficult. I would not go back"
