Q Bar & Kitchen Shirley 147 Wickham Road, Croydon CR0 8TE

"On the 14/12/2022 at approximately 17:20 myself and my family attended Q-Bar West Wickham for food and drinks. When we entered the restaurant it was empty and a lady with dark hair approached us and sat us down at the nearest table to her. We ordered my baby a meal then ordered our meal and drinks. The baby’s meal came out after about 10 minutes. The restaurant was cold, I had to put my partners jacket on and my baby’s hands were freezing. We then sat and waited for around half an hour for our meal. I couldn’t understand why this would take so long to cook two burgers especially as there is no one in the restaurant. When our food finally arrived, it look well presented and I was excited to eat it. As I bit into the burger I noticed that it had been over cook as it was very dry. I then tried to smother it in sauce however that made no difference. My partner didn’t not enjoy his food either however ate it as we had waited so long for it. I was struggling to swallow the burger so I called the waitress over to let her know I couldn’t eat it. She took my meal and said do I want to order anything else, I asked her how long would I have to wait and she said it depends on what I ordered. I looked at the menu and didn’t fancy anything else plus I didn’t have the time to sit around for another half an hour. We asked for the bill and ask she gave it to us, she said I’ve charged you for half a burger and not the chips. I couldn’t believe what she was saying. She then continued to speak over me saying I ate half a burger so I have to pay for it. While she is trying to argue with me, my baby is sat in the middle of this. So I’m trying not to raise my voice as I don’t want my baby to witness me in an argument and the waitress is continuing to be rude and demanding that I pay. I then, when she let me get a word in explained that she didn’t even check back on me or my family to see if everything is ok with my meal, I had to get her attention and raise my concerns regarding my meal. Secondly, the attitude she gave to me when I said I was unhappy with my food is unacceptable and she didn’t even apologise as you would if a customer is not happy. She was unprofessional, upset my child as my child is sat in the middle of an argument and upset us as a family. I went home and was very upset by the whole situation."

"Had a lovely Brunch to celebrate combined birthdays .. we all had the Mediterranean breakfast with variations . The staff where happy to help with changing a few of the set items to suit us we then had pancakes !!! Which where delicious. All the food arrived at the same time and was hot ! definitely going back"

"Went for brunch in the morning for a 6 year anniversary meal, our usual choices were all closed so we thought we will try this restaurant. The place wasn't too busy, we were seated quickly and overall good service from the young lad serving. Ordered smoothies for drinks and eggs Royal and chicken pancakes. Food and drink came quite quickly and all things considered they both tasted nice. The chicken panckes came with a side of fruit (melons and pineapple chunks and a slice of melon and pineapple) Had a melon, and it was very acidic, tasted off, smelt the slices of fruit and unfortunately that had gone off, explained the situation to the waiter and requested the food be taken as I couldn't eat it anymore. The waiter was very polite and understanding, but I must say he didn't seem surprised. My partners salad was the same thing, she didn't eat it, picture attached. As someone who has worked in hospitality I understand these things happen, I was polite, and kept everything discrete but the reaction of the gentleman by the till is the reason I'm posting this review. He didn't once apologise and showed any sympathy but rather sighed disapprovingly and displayed exactly why hospitality isn't for everyone. The food on the whole was mostly good, but the fresh produce was unacceptable and feels like they haven't had a chance since replace there fruits and veg since Christmas. (I note they had run out of Kale as well). There was plenty of customers who all seemed satisfied with there meal, given my experience and service I wouldn't be returning."
