"Extremely nice man running The Royal Cod. Fish and chips always fresh, not sitting under a heater for hours. The haddock, which is my preferred fish, comes in small or large portions. A large portion is sufficient for two and the chip portions are very generous. Because everything is made to order there is usually a short wait, only five or ten minutes. You can eat in and there is a 50p extra charge for this. The food is excellent. Cash only."

"Starting with the good, it's a big, clean and airy takeaway so you don't need to queue outside. There's a decent selection on the menu, including Irish Curry which was new to me. There is a table if you want to eat in, although there is a service charge for this. The staff are friendly and effective, and when I went they made a fresh batch of chips which were fine. However, the fish we bought were all very oily which is normally due to not being drained correctly or too low oil temperature - maybe it's a one off. The fish were a good size and cooked. I wouldn't normally go to so much detail, but Chorlton is full of competitive takeaways so the standard has to be high."

"Nice fish and chips however we have been a customer for years so the owners know were regulars. However we don't feel welcomed at all. They are miserable and act like they are doing you a favour serving you. I don't get any welcome. Just miserable faces and small portions for what you pay. I told my mum I'm not going back just for the way they make you feel. When you have a business you should treat your customers well especially when they have been regulars and are paying your pocket."
