Mission los Santos Ángeles de Guevavi
Located in Nogales, Arizona, United States, Mission los Santos Ángeles de Guevavi has a rich history dating back to its establishment as a mission by Catholic Jesuit Fathers Kino and Salvatierra in 1691. Originally named San Gabriel de Guevavi, the settlement later became known as Los Santos Ángeles de Guevavi. Over the years, the mission faced challenges such as disease, Apache raids, and the removal of the Jesuits in 1767. Despite these challenges, the mission thrived under the leadership of various priests and missionaries. The church, completed by Father Grazhoffer in 1732, still stands as a reminder of the mission's past. The ruins of a larger church, built in 1751, can also be seen on the site. Guevavi was eventually abandoned for the final time in 1775.
