"The Ministry of Elijah is without out a doubt a cult. Being a member for 23 years of my life I have the ability to make that judgement through experiences I went through there. The church is lead by a woman named Patricia Mccowans who has been in power since the 80s. Patricia uses “God” to control people specifically my family for generations. Growing up in the church I experienced life changing things which only some I will be able to write about in this passage. I simply don’t have the time to express all of the activities that take place there in this passage. In that church you have to ask or “inquire” about anything you do outside of going to school, work, or grocery stores. Some of things we would have to ask to do are vacations, dating, visiting friends and family, weddings, and funerals which are just some of the things. At the time I left my grandmother was dying. When she was on her deathbed we were told “you are lucky God is allowing you time with your grandmother/mom so no evil would be spoken of the church.” So basically we weren’t allowed to see her because she was her family but only so people outside the church wouldn’t talk about it. We were also told we need to ask to go see her at the hospital. I went against those rules because it was my grandma and I was reprimanded in front of the church. The year before my mom had a car wreck where her car was totaled and called me for help. With her being my mom I quickly went to help. Later on I was also reprimanded in front the church again. Since I left the church on 2017 my family that is still there has been told not to communicate with me. I know this because the same procedures were in place for others while I still attended the cult. There are plenty of other things that occur here I know and could speak on but it would be time consuming for this platform. I definitely want to speak on Thai issue to help my family who are still brainwashed and go there. I also want to be an advocate for anyone else stuck in similar situations. No one new has came to this church since the 80s so I hope this review helps no else come before this establishment loses power."
