About the Business

Bachelor Nature Preserve

Welcome to Bachelor Nature Preserve, a serene oasis nestled in the heart of Oxford, Ohio. Spanning over twenty-six acres, our park offers a unique blend of mature woodlands and old-field succession, providing nature enthusiasts with a diverse landscape to explore. Located on Oxford-Milford Road, Bachelor Nature Preserve is a haven for hikers, bird watchers, and researchers alike.

The preserve boasts a circular trail that weaves through scenic woods, offering breathtaking views of Harker's Run Creek and its lush surroundings. Access to the preserve is available by reservation only, ensuring a peaceful and undisturbed experience for all visitors.

Our rich history is rooted in the generous contributions of Paul and Edith Kramer, who donated a twelve-acre tract of land in 1987, showcasing a classic mature wood-lot typical of southwest Ohio. The trails here connect seamlessly with those of the Bachelor Reserve, offering challenging hikes with rewarding vistas.

In addition, Dr. and Mrs. Roy Reinhart's 1991 donation of 45 acres expanded our natural offerings with old-growth woodlands, meadows, springs, and scenic overlooks. The trails also touch the northern half of Bachelor Pond, home to a variety of wildlife, including wood ducks and beaver.

Bachelor Nature Preserve is part of a larger network of natural areas, including the Bachelor Wildlife and Game Reserve and the Timothy Marcum Memorial Center and Trail, which protect diverse habitats and offer educational opportunities for studying native flora and fauna.

Visitors can explore three interconnected trails—pine, north, and east loops—spanning over six miles and offering a range of terrains and scenic beauty. Whether you're hiking, skiing, or simply enjoying the serenity of nature, Bachelor Nature Preserve provides a perfect backdrop for outdoor recreation and discovery.

We invite you to reserve your visit and experience the tranquility and natural beauty that Bachelor Nature Preserve has to offer.
