"For the size of this lake this is absolutely hands down one of the best channel cat fisheries in the whole state ! I have caught numerous weighing 20lb plus, and since dredging started ( and it has improved this fishery 1000 percent ! So a big thank you to the park for working so diligently on this , it truly has made a difference ! ) quite a few years back , nothing but clean muscular looking channel cats come out of here no matter the size ! And fat chunker Bullheads are in there as well ! ( These are the ones you want to eat ! ) The crappies are starting to increase in size as well averaging 9 & 10 inches because of Park management and the ODNR , and 13 & 14 inches are caught on a regular basis if you know where the structures that hold them are! As of last year we had the fastest growing rate for Saugeyes in the whole state , reaching 25 inches in just 3 years ! With most of the action at the dam where the rocks are , and the spillway that creates lower 4 Mile Creek ! 8 inch bluegills are very common , and 10 inch bulls are seen quite frequently ! And I'm not even going to comment on the large/small mouth Bass in this lake , because if you live within 50 Miles of here , you already know that this is the place to come get some bend in your rod because 20 inch 4lb smallmouth are not uncommon at all , and 4 & 5lb largemouth are caught here frequently ! And it's all because this lake is teaming with a very healthy population of shad ! I know , your probably thinking this guy is trumping this place up... Right ? Well I'll be straight up with you , I don't have too ! Because I've been fishing this lake for 51 year's now and I know a little bit about what I'm talking about when it comes to what swims in these waters ! Oh , I almost forgot... ALL the monsters I catch are STILL in this lake because I am an avid catch and release guy when it comes to the big ones ! Take all the eating size up to 5/7lbs you want and enjoy with your family , because these bigger fish are our breeders, and provide us with the healthy genetics and genes to provide more monsters for our future generations to enjoy ! So I employ you to take your pictures of your catches with your family so you have your bragging rights! But Please return our big ones to the lake as soon as your done , because if we don't there won't be any left for us to catch in the future ! And if they swallow the hook , don't try to rip it out , just cut your line right at the edge of the mouth and leave it , because the Hook will desolve or dislodge one day and they have a 100 percent better chance of survival than ripping there guts out trying to remove a hook that is down in vital organs ! Now come get some bend in your rod ! Because it's everything I told you it was , and More !!!"
