About the Business

Ashtabula County Veterans Services

Welcome to Ashtabula County Veterans Services

Located at 1212 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004, Ashtabula County Veterans Services is a dedicated local government office committed to supporting and assisting our local veteran community. We understand the unique challenges faced by today's veterans and are here to provide the necessary resources to help navigate these issues.

Our mission is to offer financial assistance and other benefits to veterans and their dependents who encounter unexpected hardships, in accordance with the eligibility requirements established by the Ohio Revised Code. We are proud to assist in processing claims for VA benefits, applications for free grave markers, burial benefits, and funerals for honorably discharged indigent veterans.

Our knowledgeable Service Officers are available to work with you to determine the services you're eligible for as an honorably discharged veteran. For those in need of medical transportation, we provide services to eligible veterans for appointments at both the Erie VA Medical Center and the Cleveland Wade Park VA Medical Center.

Please note that the Veterans Service Commission does not take applications over the phone and will never solicit personal information such as Social Security numbers, VA claim numbers, or dates of birth. Protect your information and report any suspicious calls claiming to represent our agency.

Funded by Ashtabula County property taxes and legislated by the State of Ohio, each of the 88 Veterans Service Commissions in Ohio is governed by a board of five Commissioners as per the Ohio Revised Code, ORC 5901.

For veterans in crisis, the Veterans Crisis Line offers confidential support 24/7. Reach out at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1 for immediate assistance. Support is also available for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Stay informed with the latest data from the Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. The 2022 National Veteran Suicide Prevention report provides an in-depth analysis of suicide statistics and demographics. Access the report for valuable insights.

At Ashtabula County Veterans Services, we are here to serve those who have served our nation. Visit us today to learn more about how we can assist you.
