Managed by the dedicated La Porte County Parks Department, we are committed to providing top-notch recreational opportunities and outdoor experiences for all residents of the county. Our mission is to preserve and protect the natural beauty of our parks, ensuring they remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Explore the diverse landscapes across our parks, featuring 96 acres of spring wildflowers, upland forests, wetlands, prairies, and ponds. From Creek Ridge's 112 acres south of Michigan City to Luhr Park's 94 acres just south of LaPorte, you’ll encounter a wealth of ecosystems and wildlife. Enjoy multi-use trails perfect for hiking and mountain biking, or try your hand at fishing in our stocked ponds.
For those seeking a unique adventure, visit our dedicated state nature preserve, offering a serene 1/2 mile loop through a boreal forest relic filled with diverse plant species. We also offer a primitive campsite accessible by river, ideal for a truly back-to-nature experience.
Our parks are open daily from dawn to dusk, with the Nature Center welcoming visitors from 1pm to 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. To ensure a memorable visit, our staff diligently maintains trails, protects wildlife, and keeps the grounds pristine.
