About the Business

Lincoln Memorial Bridge

Welcome to the Lincoln Memorial Bridge, a captivating tourist attraction located in Vincennes, Indiana. Our site is steeped in history, commemorating the remarkable achievements of a few determined individuals who shaped the course of American history.

On February 25, 1779, the British flag was lowered at Fort Sackville when the garrison surrendered to American Colonel George Rogers Clark. This pivotal victory, aided by French residents of the Illinois country, was achieved through a grueling march across freezing floodwaters. It secured the United States' claims to the frontier, an area almost as vast as the original 13 states.

Visitors are encouraged to plan their trip to the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, open daily from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Here, you can watch the park movie, explore the museum, shop at the bookstore, and engage with knowledgeable park rangers. Restroom facilities are also available on-site.

Stay informed by checking weather conditions, closures, and current alerts for the park. Discover the schedule of park events, programs, and festivals, and find information on booking educational and group tours. Please note that permits are required for all events on park grounds, including filming, photography, weddings, memorials, and special events.

The George Rogers Clark Memorial, embodying the Beaux-Arts architectural style, is a testament to a unique period of memorialization in the USA. It serves as a timeless reminder that courage, fortitude, and valor never go out of style.

Enhance your visit by downloading the NPS app, your guide to navigating the parks on the go. Join us in honoring the legacy of those who paved the way for the nation we know today.

"A beautiful example of President Roosevelt's WPA projects. It perfectly compliments the George Roger's Clark memorial which is the largest federal memorial outside of DC."
