"MY RESPONSE to OWNER: Yes, was my intent to give your “contact” section of your web page advanced opportunity, you can tell by the way it was written. Not sure what went wrong. I was even going to apologize, now I’m glad it happened this way. NOTICE: It is the official policy of Sweet Melissa’s that only compliments and praises appear on social media sites. Any disappointments in service must be shared privately or have prior authorization. Silly, isn’t it. You could have said: “John, I would have responded to you privately but it appears your google review showed up before our web inquiry did. But I am happy to apologize to you and any other customer on Saturday who experienced subpar service. Yes, we had a difficult day due to circumstances that don’t matter to customers. I invite you back and will contact you privately, so that you may enjoy the first-class experiences we traditionally deliver and look forward to your next review. “ So easy if you care and are sincere. I learned one can observe the culture of an organization from the time you step in the door to the various interactions with employees. They way they are dressed, if they smile, the tenor in their voices all tell you something. In sports they call it team chemistry. Even when a leader goes down, the rest of the team steps up never losing sight of their commitment. Spending over an hour with nothing to do but observe, I saw no varying degrees of service amongst staff. There wasn’t the cheerful bubbly one, who had her tables cared for, or the professional one who communicated difficulties to his customers with apologies and fresh beverages. In fact, the staff is incognito. No identifying t-shirt or baseball cap that let one knows who even works there. There was a culture of inability and lack of caring on display Saturday. I did wish to alert management of the issue and not start a public food fight. Not sure anymore, if a third-party service is managing the social media, or if ownership actually knows? Some are good at shaming reviewers in an effort to have them removed. That leaves a false impression of what actually happens. If you search, there are more than a handful of reviews with similar experiences to mine over more than a handful of review sites. What I experienced was real, sorry you can’t admit it was a challenging day without chastising me."
