"The museum does a good job. It explains living the local history by dedicating specific rooms to parts of that history. So it uses the old mansion as a backdrop. The staff spent a lot of time with us and thoroughly answered all our questions. The staff made it all worthwhile."

"Very informative site with artifacts from the deep history of the Washington/Wilkes area. They have many items ranging from the Battle of Kettle Creek that drove the British from capturing all of Georgia thru the many important men who lived here and served as important members of the Confederate government and armies. You can't go wrong with a visit to this museum and out to Rest Haven Cemetery, and then Kettle Creek battlefield."

"This museum has so many fabulously interesting artifacts from the civil war crammed into a beautiful old house. I spent about two hours here but could easily have taken a day to examine more of the artifacts and read everything."
