Welcome to the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission
Located at 1 Jackson Hill Drive, Rome, Georgia, the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission (NWGRC) is a pivotal local government office dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents across 15 counties and 48 municipalities in Northwest Georgia. Our mission is to foster orderly growth, conserve natural and historic resources, and nurture human resources within the region.
Our Responsibilities:
- Georgia Planning Act of 1989: We assist local governments in implementing comprehensive plans that address economic development, community facilities, natural and historic resources, housing, and land use, ensuring they are updated every ten years.
- Area Agency on Aging: As designated by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, we plan, coordinate, and administer vital programs for older Georgians, guided by an Advisory Council of consumers.
- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act: We manage this federally-funded program to provide education, training, and employment opportunities, addressing the needs of discouraged workers, the unemployed or underemployed, and those affected by layoffs or business closures.
Proudly serving Northwest Georgia's vibrant communities, NWGRC offers planning and development assistance to member governments, helping them achieve goals that might otherwise be financially unattainable.
