Concord Baptist Church

"I love this church. I have a family of 6. Military husband, I’m a stay at home mom and we have 4 boys age 17,6,4, and 1. We tried a lot of the “Big” churches in the Opelika and Columbus area and they were amazing, but after staying for Months at 2 of the main ones in the area, I didn’t have 1 friend. It seemed there was no community. I got really sick back in Sept 2022 and was dying in the hospital. My husband had to be home with our kids cause we didn’t have family or friends near to help with them for him to be with me (remember military). I was so alone and just wanted someone to pray with and I had no one to call from church. And I didn’t come from a “Church family”. When I got out of the hospital and was recovering a neighbor going for a walk invited me to this church. So I tried it. From day 1, I knew I found my church home. Mrs. Lurlene teaches my 4 year olds Sunday school class and made me feel so welcome and got my number that first day. She has called and check up on me almost weekly since! On top of that Chris and Michelle Rogers are the most amazing, kind, and loving people I know! They are in my adult Sunday school class and they help make everyone feel welcome while also helping teach us that everyone makes mistakes and that’s ok. They and my fellow Christian’s will love me no matter what mistakes I make. They also are the head of Upward Sports for our area, which is hosted by our church and got my kids plugged into basketball and go me plugged in with coaching kindergarden cheerleaders. They have been without a pastor until last week and I barely noticed because of the village and community these people have! If you need support, come here. If you need family, come here. If you need Jesus, come here. If you are like me and don’t know what you need, come here! You won’t regret it! Oh and they have an awesome women’s workout class for free on Tuesday’s! They try so hard to have a bunch of different things going on to include everyone!"

"This church is great. It’s a small community that is very welcoming to all people. My kids really enjoy it and my wife found her people! My 6 year old did upward and will be doing it again"

"Let me start with saying, we signed our 6 year old son and 5 year old daughter up for Upward Basketball here. I am a Christian and we currently do not have a church home so we are looking for one and we like doing the Upward because it is a fund raiser for the church. Tonight during the game my oldest son was playing with a orange ball and tossing it with the other older kids on the side. The head person in charge asked me not to bring the ball back again. When asked what my son and the other older kids should do for an hour he said, they don't need to come. I guess he wants the other kids to stay home with no adults. Not very church like. Please keep in mind this guy is a leader in the church runs the Upward Basketball Program. So if he acts like this how does he act when he is no inside church. The way he handled this could have been 100 times better and to be a leader of the church I get the impression he doesn't care about us as a community. Also the way he speaks to 5-6 years old during the game is very unprofessional. I have watched him all season and I tried to tell myself that he is doing it to coach them but he is the ref.... its like he wants to be in charge and throw his weigh around. Regardless we won't be back and I'll call the church and speak with them directly. If your looking for a Christian family, I'd look elsewhere."
