"St John's Lutheran Church is also the Almost Home shelter for Homeless Men. The place is very nicely setup for both the homeless shelter and the church oh and plus in the basement of the church is the used clothing store."
"The pastor is a great person, he has always been there for in need when I needed prayers for my surgeries in Iowa city and Dubuque. No longer in Dubuque I’m full time patient in University of Iowa city hospitals n clinics facing a very dangerous surgery pretty soon have an ineffective hernia mesh and a aorta valve closing looking at open heart soon down the road but can’t touch me until they take care of the hernia mesh 1st. Plus I was very proud volunteer for St. John’s pastor jay was good to me. Bruce"

"A friendly, small congregation that has been doing downtown ministry for over 160 years. It currently supports free clothing and bread giveaways and is an overflow site for the city's Rescue Mission, serving homeless men. Worship at 10am Sundays alternates weekly between contemporary and traditional worship styles. Check it out!"
