"Dighton Rock The Rolling Rock of Fall River is composed of Dighton conglomerate. According to Edward H. Perkins of Yale University, this particular boulder broke off off Dighton and wad carried by glacier to it's present location. Dighton conglomerate is the bedrock beneath much of the Narragansett Basin. Roughly 40 miles long and 15 miles wide it could be simply described as running from Taunton, Ma. To Newport, R.I.. The southern half is called the Rhode Island formation which is older and much thicker ranging between 1000 and 2000 feet. The northern half which extends well into the Attleboros is call the Taunton/Dighton formation and is much younger extending to a depth of only 100 to 150 feet. Driving around Dighton, you will see Dighton Conglomerate poking through many of the lawns. While I did not get it verified, I assume that Anawan Rock is another example of Dighton Coglomerate."
"This tiny park is not for everyone. If you are into glacial erratic boulders then this is one to see. Pudding stone none the less."
