About the Business

Gentilly Park Mobile Home

Welcome to Gentilly Park Mobile Home, a cherished lodging and RV park nestled in the heart of Auburn, Alabama. Located at 501 Webster Road, our park has been a beloved haven for the Auburn Student Community since 1970.

Our story began in the 1960s when Floyd and Eva Mae Starr, along with their sons Cecil and Terry, welcomed an Auburn student who asked to park his trailer in their backyard. This simple act of hospitality marked the birth of the original Starr’s Mobile Home Park.

Over the years, Cecil and his wife Martha Jean Starr, drawing on their experience from recovery work in Mississippi and Florida, transformed a 52-acre site on Webster Road into the flourishing Gentilly Park. Since its inception, Gentilly Park has been a favored choice among Veterinary students and quickly reached capacity by 1972, a testament to its popularity and community spirit.

At Gentilly Park, we pride ourselves on offering a welcoming and supportive environment for students and visitors alike. Whether you're seeking a temporary home during your studies or a tranquil spot to park your RV, we are here to meet your needs.

We invite you to learn more about our rich history and vibrant community. Feel free to reach out—we’d love to chat and help you find your place at Gentilly Park!

"Gentilly park used to be a great and affordable place to live but over the past 3 years the park owners have raised rent over 50% and begun to remove services that the rent used to cover, such as water. The owner and management here also have a tendency to be rude and unresponsive when it comes to dealing with complaints and issues."

"The trailer park itself is very nice. The biggest downside for me is that it’s not as safe to live here as I think it should be. For example just last night my truck and many other vehicles were broken into. I believe if the streets in the park were better lit with street lights it could possibly deter more crimes."

"My daughter really enjoyed living at Gentilliy Park. We never worried about anything. The people were really nice. If there were any issues they were addressed in a reasonable time. Gentilly thank you."

"Pros: Rent was affordable, lawn was kept in good shape by the owners, location is great for off-campus living. Cons: Management was lazy. It would take 3 to 5 calls to the front office for a maintenance crew to be sent to my trailer."

"First off I want to say I really enjoyed my tenure in Gentilly but I had a real negative experience when I was forced to move, or sell, my home due to its age. There is verbiage stated in the lease that the park management will help tenants sell their trailer. There was no such thing done for me in my case, I had to network and find a buyer myself otherwise the trailer would be removed regardless of my property being in it and stored for an astronomical price ($3000 to move it and then $400/month to “store” it). After the transaction was finalized between the buyer and I, I then started to move what I could with a 4 door sedan, work, find another place to live, and deal with familial health issues. I was not able to move everything out quickly. The trailer was moved by Randall Price, with my feline and some possessions still in the trailer. When I was able to retrieve everything, I noticed a few things missing, one of them being a vacuum cleaner.. after investigating the trailer further I noticed a .22 revolver was no longer where I had put it and ammunition was taken of out 2 .40 caliber handgun magazines. I’m not sure what kind of people are contracted through Gentilly but I have never had anything stolen from my property the 6 years I lived in that park or the 12 years that I’ve lived in auburn. I have filed a police report already and just cut my losses as far as what was stolen. It’s a shame I’ve paid good money to that park over the years just to be done dirty, while my property was rummaged through instead of doing their job. I would not recommend any property or park that is managed by Buck Starr."
