"I had a car shipped from one CarMax to another. Tracking the car was easy but it took a lot of effort on my part to track down setting up an appointment once the car arrived. It took several days and several phone calls/live chat to get that completed. I arrived for the test drive and had everything set for express check out. That process was very smooth. However, when we had questions about the inspection done on the car and the condition of the tires, we were given a sales manager who quickly shot down any concerns. Turns out, after driving 4 hours back to where we live, that the car we purchased was completely unsafe to drive. It had major tire damage, rear brakes and pads that were shot, and ended up needing $7500 in repairs. After a proper inspection elsewhere, it was determined the following items did not in fact pass inspection: 4 tires, 1 bent rim, back brakes, rotors, pads, car battery, two engine filters, and cabin filter. We were lucky to make it home! CarMax agreed to pay for the repairs. We were without the car we purchased for 4 days while it was in the shop and we aren't even sure it received the oil change it should have from CarMax either. We were lucky to avoid a catastrophe and CarMax did not go above and beyond to make us feel like it was a fluke and offer anything more. Highly doubt we will purchase again from CarMax unless we can have it checked out by someone ourselves before we complete the purchase and drive away from the lot!"

"We came here without an appointment and just decided to take a look around. They have a wide selection of cars! Some of the cars that were on the lot weren't available. You have to scan the QR code to see the availability. After looking around for a little bit, we fell in love with one of the cars. The sales representative named Dominick took care of us. He set up a test drive for us and then was helping us throughout the entire process of purchasing a vehicle. He was really nice and knowledgeable. Made everything look super easy and gave us some very important advice. In the end, we got exactly what we were looking for and left CarMax in a good mood and with a new car. I would kindly recommend making an appointment before coming in. We were lucky to be helped without one. CarMax is the best!"

Make an appointment, bring your car in and they'll quote you a price in short order. And then give you a week to decide. And don't bother you during that period. MUCH smoother and less stressful than transactions with the average car dealer."

"Overall it was a very good experience. They transported a car that I wanted to see from Colma. It arrived very quickly and the communication was great. The customer service reps were also great. There were some very long wait times in between processes such as appraisal of old car, waiting for paperwork to be completed. I had a cashier’s check so there wasn’t any financing involved. I was hoping that it would be shorter than if I had gone to a regular dealer. I spent over four hours at Carmax. I’m still happy with the purchase."
