About the Business
Welcome to Carson Library, a vibrant community hub located at 151 East Carson Street, Carson, California 90745. Proudly serving the Carson area since its establishment in 1938, Carson Library has evolved from its origins as the Keystone Branch to become a cornerstone of knowledge and community engagement. The library merged with the Carson Branch in 1959, and our current building opened its doors in 1972. After a comprehensive renovation in 2023, our facility continues to serve the community across 19.24 square miles, offering a blend of traditional and modern resources.
Carson Library is a proud member of the LA County Library system and is supported by the Friends of the Library, who provide invaluable services to enhance our offerings. Each year, we host engaging events such as the LA County Library’s Annual Bookmark Contest, inviting young artists from grades K-12 to showcase their creativity. We also participate in the One Book, One County celebration, fostering a shared reading experience across the community.
Our library provides an array of services, including the ability to check out Kindle Paperwhites pre-loaded with expertly selected books, ensuring you can enjoy reading without internet access. For those needing digital resources, our kiosk offers laptop checkouts for use within the library, alongside access to downloadable and streaming content like eBooks, eAudiobooks, and more, all free of overdue fines with your LA County Library card.
We are committed to supporting educational growth through our 48 Homework Centers, which offer enhanced resources and homework help. Additionally, our Family Place Library program supports early childhood development with resources for parents and children.

"I had a wonderful experience at the Carson Public Library. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, and the library had a diverse selection of books, magazines, and DVDs available for borrowing. The library was clean, quiet, and well-organized, providing a great atmosphere for reading and studying. Additionally, I was thrilled to discover that the library offers free wifi access, even in the parking area, which was incredibly convenient for getting work done on the go. I highly recommend the Carson Public Library to anyone in the area looking for a welcoming space to enjoy literature and utilize valuable resources."
"I hate it all I hate everything about it ,the nice warm comfy and cozy touches are gone and what up with the gray scale color palette, this place doesn't make me want to come inside pull up a chair and read a book it makes me want to find the nearest dark corner and hide it's too loud too bright too open too empty and there are too many cameras and all the comfy furniture is gone this place doesn't make you feel welcome it makes me want to go home it's unwelcoming you feel like you're on display and being watched I hate it, I'f I could give it zero stars I would and half of the books are gone and the material simply haven't been moved it's gone it's not even registered on their computer anymore it tells me they threw it away and the bathroom stinks all the time ,the new hours are pathetic is there going to be open that little amount of time they might as well not open on those days at all ,they should have simply updated and fixed what needed to be and left the rest alone if the place burn to the ground today or tomorrow I wouldn't feel the tiny shred of sympathy. By the way no that is not a threat that is simply how I feel."
