Welcome to the Hawthorne Library, a cherished cornerstone of our community since 1913. Located at 12700 Grevillea Avenue, Hawthorne, California, our library has been a beacon of knowledge and community engagement for over a century. Our facility, which was relocated to its current site in 1962 and beautifully remodeled in 1978 and recently in 2022, serves an area spanning 5.99 square miles.
At the heart of our library's vibrant community support is the Friends of the Hawthorne and Wiseburn Libraries, a dedicated volunteer-run organization established in 1979. This group plays a crucial role in supporting library events and services, enhancing the educational and cultural experiences available to our patrons.
We proudly host a variety of engaging programs and events, including the LA County Library's Annual Bookmark Contest, inviting young artists from grades K-12 to showcase their creativity. Additionally, we participate in the One Book, One County celebration, fostering a love for reading and community dialogue.
Our library offers a wealth of resources, from Kindle Paperwhites pre-loaded with expertly curated books to laptops available for in-library use. With a valid LA County Library card, patrons can access a wide array of digital content, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, music, and movies, all without the worry of overdue fines.
We are committed to supporting education through our 48 Homework Centers, which provide students with enhanced resources and homework assistance. Our Family Place Library offers early childhood information and support, recognizing the critical role of early learning and parent involvement in child development.
