Originally developed in 1936 as a stormwater detention basin, Chittick Field has evolved into a premier recreational facility while maintaining its vital role in flood control management. Thanks to a transformative renovation completed in 2014, the site now boasts modern amenities including restrooms, bleacher areas, sports lighting, and paved parking, all set amidst beautifully landscaped grounds with native and drought-tolerant plants.

The Dee Andrews Sports Complex at Chittick Field, named in honor of the former Vice Mayor and Sixth District Councilman, stands as a testament to community dedication and development. Dee Andrews, a local sports icon, played a pivotal role in securing $9.9 million in funding to revitalize the complex, ensuring it serves the community for generations to come.
