About the Business

Pocket Park Food Forest

Welcome to Pocket Park Food Forest, a vibrant oasis nestled in the heart of Cotati, California. Located at Cotati, CA 94931, our unique park is a testament to community collaboration and sustainable living. Established in partnership with Daily Acts and the City of Cotati in 2009, Pocket Park has transformed from a traditional, water-intensive lawn into a flourishing public food forest, rich in biodiversity and ecological innovation.

Spanning 5,000 square feet, Pocket Park is a shining example of how urban spaces can be reimagined to benefit both the environment and the community. Before its transformation, the park consumed tens of thousands of gallons of potable water each summer and required regular maintenance with fertilizers and herbicides. Today, thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers and community members, the park saves at least 62,500 gallons of water annually and supports a thriving ecosystem of over 150 plants across 50 species.

Our food forest is designed to provide free, fresh produce to Cotati residents, with fruit trees and berry bushes that will yield hundreds of pounds of food each year at maturity. Beyond its role as a food source, Pocket Park serves as a hub for community engagement and environmental education. The City of Cotati and Daily Acts host seasonal skill-building workshops and community work parties, inviting residents to connect with nature and learn sustainable practices.

By eliminating the need for pesticides, herbicides, and lawn maintenance, Pocket Park not only reduces municipal costs but also protects the adjacent creek from harmful runoff, supporting local watershed restoration efforts.

Visit Pocket Park Food Forest to experience a pocket-sized paradise of ecological wonders and join us in celebrating a greener, more sustainable future for Cotati.
