"I rented a car from the Monterey Airport, four bald tires and one had to be filled up every day to keep it from going flat. Reserved it on the website using my miles, and also reminded the agent at the counter to use my miles. The agent charged my card instead. Customer service was and is a freaking joke. Your phone system needs to be set up so that when none of the choices fit the customer's needs then it immediately gets them to someone who can help. Instead, your phone system frustrates the customer who just needs you to fix the thing that's your responsibility anyway but is now pissed off and combative by the time they get to the agent. That is completely unnecessary for both parties. It takes almost 2 minutes for the automated system to not help you get to a live person who can answer your question about what to do in case you need to replace a tire. Additionally, for the last two days I have been trying to get a supervisor to fix my miles problem and no one is helping. This phone system and the general inability of the phone rep to help me fix what seems to be a simple problem makes me dislike this company when it comes to future business dealings with them."

"Unbelievably rude desk attendant. Was doing a drop off return, asked him for a pen to write the mileage down and he literally chucked it across the counter. Then I tried to put the key in the drop box and dude just snapped at me and said "Leave it on the counter." Worst service in ages, Enterprise is always much better. Wish I'd rented with them again."

"I'm usually a 5 star giver ..maybe too much. There's no staff here! No instructions nothing on how to return the car. I returned my rental on 2/25 at 10:15am. I was supposed to return at 11am. No one was around so I dropped the key in the dropbox. They don't check the box every hour to see what keys are coming back? Whoever works there didn't end up checking my car in until 2/26 at 7am the next morning. So what happened? Avis thought I kept the car an extra 21 hours. What's that mean? extra charges for a car that was already returned. Oh here's a pic of mileage. Bad. However, I did call and the phone agent said they'd reverse charges... we'll see if they hold true to word. Avis can check the OnStar in that car and see it hasn't moved in the window I dropped it off to when they checked the car back in. Update: got my refund. They still jipped me out of 2 dollars I was never supposed to pay in the first place. Wasn't my smoothest rental experience. So bumped up the stars, slightly."

"First they gave me a car that smelled like an ashtray. I literally couldn't stomach the smell and had to take the time out of my work trip to exchange the car, which was a huge inconvenience. Then after I've already submitted my expense reporting for my work trip, they slap me with a bogus toll charge through E-toll. I literally didn't drive on a single toll road. The customer service staff said NOTHING about it. What a racket and a sham. Good job losing my business. Thank goodness there are other rental options at the Monterey Airport."

"I rented a vehicle and drove 43 miles. Refilled the gas tank (was a little less than a gallon to refill) and returned the vehicle via the key dropoff box this morning. I included the receipt for gas, as required per your policies to avoid fuel surcharges. Yet, you assessed me a fuel service fee. I cannot reach you via the phone number provided on your rental agreement. I am hoping this is an error on your part and not unethical business practices. Sadly, I cannot recommend your business at this time. I look forward to you rectifying this issue. A picture of the gas receipt along with the odometer and fuel level gauge at beginning and end of the rental are attached."
