About the Business

Welcome to the Salmon Creek Ranger Station, your gateway to the breathtaking beauty of the Sonoma Coast State Park. Located at 3088-4214 Shoreline Highway in Bodega Bay, California, our station is ideally situated between the South Salmon Beach and North Salmon Beach parking lots off Highway 1. Here at Salmon Creek Ranger Station, we invite you to explore the stunning natural landscapes that make this area one of California's most scenic attractions.

The Sonoma Coast is renowned for its long sandy beaches, rugged headlands, and craggy coastlines with natural arches and secluded coves. Whether you're a beachcomber, fisherman, sunbather, or picnicker, you'll find numerous access points along the coast to enjoy these pristine environments. Our day-use areas are open to the public, and bathrooms are available at most locations. In some areas, please be prepared to pack it in and pack it out to help preserve the natural beauty.

Experience the unique climate of the north coast, where summer fog often gives way to clear skies by midday, creating a cool haven away from the inland heat. We recommend wearing layered clothing due to variable weather conditions and keeping a fully charged cell phone with you for emergencies.

Explore nearby attractions such as Bodega Head, known for its excellent crabbing spots and hiking trails that offer spectacular ocean views and whale-watching opportunities. Visit Goat Rock Beach, home to a colony of harbor seals, or discover the diverse marine life at Shell Beach's tidal pools. For the adventurous, Duncan's Landing offers dramatic landscapes and challenging surf conditions.

Please remember that safety is our priority. Sonoma Coast is not recommended for swimming due to strong rip currents and heavy surf. Always stay alert, keep children away from the water's edge, and adhere to posted warning signs.

For camping enthusiasts, Wright's Beach offers 27 campsites near the beach, while Bodega Dunes provides additional amenities including hot showers and a dump station. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak seasons and holidays. Contact ReserveCalifornia at 1-800-444-PARK for reservations.

Join us at the Salmon Creek Ranger Station, where the natural wonders of the Sonoma Coast await your discovery. Enjoy your visit and help us protect this beautiful environment for generations to come.

"I go here and the Head once a month to visit my Mom. At Salmon I write in big lots letters I MISS YOU MOM. Then to the Head to visit. Today is a year for my mom and I miss her so much. They're both great places to go."

"Came here for a trail run had a really bad experience with a ranger named Liz she took my $8 dollars for parking, and said keep tag on dash which I did. She then told me to go ahead and park but gave no instructions where. Less than ten minutes later she came to the parking area where all the runners parked and told me I had to move. She was shouting at me while I was on the phone, when I told her she was harassing me and that it was not ok because everyone was parked in this area she drove off.. Very unprofessional and angry old woman, her supervisor would not like the way she talks to paying customers."
