About the Business

Welcome to Manchester State Campground, your ideal destination for camping, lodging, and exploring the natural beauty of Manchester, California. Nestled at 44500 Kinney Road, just half a mile north of the charming town of Manchester, our campground offers a serene escape with breathtaking views and diverse outdoor activities.

Manchester State Park is a stunning natural haven featuring expansive beaches, picturesque sand dunes, and lush grasslands, boasting nearly 18,000 feet of ocean frontage. The gently curving beach acts as a natural "catch basin" for sea treasures, resulting in an abundance of driftwood along the shore. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely five-mile stroll along the sandy beach stretching southward toward the iconic Point Arena Lighthouse.

Nature enthusiasts will delight in the excellent steelhead fishing opportunities in Brush Creek and Alder Creek. Please consult the Department of Fish and Game for seasonal closures and regulations at www.dfg.ca.gov/regulations. The park is a floral wonderland, showcasing a vibrant array of coastal wildflowers such as sea pinks, poppies, lupines, baby blue eyes, and blue irises. Bird watchers will appreciate the habitat for tundra swans, while geology buffs may be intrigued by the San Andreas Fault, which runs into the sea within the park.

Named after the nearby village of Manchester, this area in Mendocino County is renowned for its rich grazing lands, flocks of sheep, and herds of cattle, adding a pastoral charm to the breathtaking coastal scenery. The park's main entrance is conveniently located on Kinney Lane off Highway 1.

Visitors should be prepared for the local climate, with temperatures rarely exceeding 72°F or dropping below 50°F. Expect heavy rainfall from September to May, and frequent morning and evening fog during the summer. Strong winds are common throughout the year, so layered clothing is recommended for comfort.

Educational opportunities abound with both guided and self-guided field trips available at no cost. School groups are encouraged to make reservations at least one month in advance, subject to park staff approval. Explore our enriching K-12 School Field Trip experiences and immerse yourself in the natural wonders Manchester State Park has to offer.

Plan your visit today and experience the tranquility and beauty of Manchester State Campground, where nature's splendor awaits you.

"Awesome campground by the ocean. July 20 '24 and most of the spots are empty. With everything else fully booked this is a gem. it is walk up only but definitely worth the gamble!"

"Beautiful campground on the ocean between Sea Ranch and Point Arena! Only downside is you have to bring your own water because theirs is contaminated. Maybe they should lower the fees considering, but it is literally right above the ocean with gorgeous views. Most of the sites are in the open sun but a few have good shade. This campground is first come first served, reservations can't be made online, you have to use the self register envelopes, so make sure to bring enough cash to pay your fees."

"First come, first serve, 35 sites. Pit toilets. But amazing. Empty on a Saturday in July, incredible. All other state campgrounds by the ocean area fully booked. Ocean views and sounds."
