Dr. Apurv Varia

"My mother saw Dr. Varia for severe abdominal pain on 7/20. He sent her for a cat scan on 7/25. She couldn’t get him to call her back and continued to suffer until I took her to the ER on 8/8. On 8/9 his assistant finally called to let her know she was constipated, at which point I was appalled in this delay and her suffering and the situation was worse than constipation, and he never followed up. On 8/19 we had another ER visit followed by her being admitted for Sepsis and a severe abdominal infection. On 8/22 a colonoscopy confirmed a severe diverticulitis infection. When reading the CT scan from Dr. Varia from 7/25, it was clear that diverticulitis was starting. Yet he didn’t address it at all. Now my Mother is still in the hospital on IV antibiotics treating this severe infection which should have been treated on 7/25, had Dr. Varia properly followed up. Avoid this doctor and his practice at all costs! You might wind up with a life threatening infection in the time it takes the office to follow up."

"I came to see Dr. Varia to get my prescription refills but he was out and so they set me up with Megan Costello PA. I also wanted her to review some prescriptions I was given at one of the clinics for what they said was a brown recluse bite. I wanted a second opinion because I was very concerned about these prescriptions, causing problems with my IBS D. and my acid reflux problems . Megan looked at the prescriptions and was concerned that there was a possibility it could really cause me some issues. She started asking me some questions about the bite and she finally said will you let me take a look at it because sometimes brown recluse bites can be misdiagnosed. After she had taken a look at the bite, she told me she did not think it was a brown recluse bite, but a type of fatty tumor. She she told me that she didn’t think I needed to take both the antibiotics just one and gave me an antibiotic cream. She was awesome. I was so frightened about taking those antibiotics and she immediately realized, after looking at the bite, that it was Misdiagnosed. I think she’s outstanding and I definitely wanted to give her credit for finding out what was wrong. This lady should go far . The rest of the staff was excellent."

"I have been waiting for a month for CT results. I have called twice and both time the assistant tells me she will get the information and call me back tomorrow. She has never called me back. Looking for a new GI doctor now."

I was seeing another GI Specialist but have now switched to Dr. Varia. Super nice and Really Listens. I have already recommended him to another friend.
