"AEC in Denton is an extremely busy facility which generally requires a longer than expected wait time. However, the staff and the physicians are friendly, thorough and professional. I’ve had a couple of emergency events recently and they made every effort to get me in and find immediate care through a retina center. I definitely recommend them."

"I'm actually shocked at the good reviews. They have to be mined/paid for. There is no way the overwhelming majority of people enjoy their experience here. The wait to see a doctor is at least an hour, total, and your appointment with the doctor is about 10 mins. They do a good job of herding you around the building like cattle so it is hard to notice, but the total wait time is about an hour before you see a doctor. 19 mins I waited at the start of the appt. Then you see a technician who does the majority of the work up. Then they move you to another internal waiting area; here I waited 28 mins with my eyes dilated so bad I just put my sunglasses and laid my head against the wall as I listened to the TV they sit you in front of that just plays infomercials on repeat trying to sell you different optical junk. Then I waited in the exam room for another 12 minutes before he blew in and out for 10 minutes. I told them when i scheduled my appointment that I wore both glasses and contacts and that I needed new prescriptions for both. Apparently this whole ordeal though was only for glasses and they were unable to complete my request for contacts today... Because that's a different appointment that they didn't schedule for me and he did not have time to work that into this appointment today. They also did not mention that I may need assistance driving myself because they would dilate my eyes at this appointment. I can't even see the screen in front of me to be able to pay bill but they think it's acceptable for me to drive myself home in this condition. I told both the doctor and the people at the desk that this wasn't a good experience, and I didn't just as calmly as I've written this review, no one cared. I gave it 2 stars because the tech who did the majority of my exam was great."

"I came to them as somewhat a complicated case as I’m going through chemo and the meds are causing all kinds of vision changes. I felt well cared for. and everything was run very efficiently that I also felt was well balanced with patient care. My doctor gave me her FULL attention for the time I saw her, and that’s rare. There is always the few minutes when she is examine you and dictating to support staff like she is looking at you like a mechanic does a car, but once done she switched to a very pleasant manner and interpreted what she told the support staff member in technical terms into ones I understood. What more could you want?"

"Dr. Shafron and the team at AECC are amazing. My surgery process was efficient and effective from day one. I came to them for a second opinion and was very impressed with their process. My vision is amazing! Highly recommend! They are my new go to for eye care."

"I have NEVER had a worse experience, and I have been a patient there for years! First, the front office was having a horrible time verifying my insurance for some weird reason. They finally called me into the exam room after 45 minutes. I was probably 20 minutes into my exam when the front desk girl came back and said I was going to have to reschedule my appointment because I hadn’t paid my insurance premium. I asked to call them from my car and they said no, I would have to reschedule. When I got to my car, it took me a couple of minutes to be told by my insurance company that my insurance was current and active. I tried to call Advanced Eye Care back and they wouldn’t answer the phone for 40 minutes, so I drove back over to tell them I am current on my coverage. I asked them to call my insurance to verify, and they said no, they would refer it to the billing department and have them call me back. It was an embarrassing and unnecessary experience for me, because they told me in front of the whole waiting area that I hadn’t paid my insurance premium, which was untrue! I really like Dr. Eckhardt a lot, but will not ever go back there and be treated like that. I’m sorry, it’s not in my character to complain, but I’ve never been treated that way."
